So yeah, like the title says, is sonic r playable on sonic gems collection through a built in functioning Saturn emulator for the gamecube? If so, could this be used to program a functioning decent speed emulator on the Wii?

Sonic R is a port, and was rebuilt to work on GameCube hardware, IIRC. SEGA Saturn is a complex system to emulate, so I doubt a Saturn emulator on the Wii would be possible now. Someone out there is working on a Saturn emulator for the Wii, called Yabuze Wii, though it cannot play commercial games well at all.

Good idea, though.

Check if there is an official ported version first but last I checked there was no decent Saturn emulator due to its complicated hardware nature, that and it wasnt hugely popular enough for as many as say the Playstation to work on it

IMHO if Sega actually made some good ol' Sonics for the Saturn (NOT 3D BLAST) emulation hackers would have spent much more blood, sweat , and tears on perfecting and porting an emulator.
