Today Sony Japan Studio unveiled the new IP Panopticon.
The trailer hints at a hunting style raid game.

It is still unclear whether this is a PS3 or PS Vita game (or both). It is also worth noting that SCEJ have also registered the name Freedom Wars.

reminds me of that timberlake movie... the one with the ridiculous arm pressing game to win time.

Anyway, while this could probably be good, I think we can all agree that the game itself won't be able to come close to the video sequence we've been shown here.
I'd even expect this to be a monster hunter clone in a modern environment. slow gameplay, lots of repetition. A hit in Japan, will only have a small following everywhere else. something like that

This looks mighty fine in my opinion, looks like a cross between Monster Hunter and God Eater (Not that God Eater isn't a Monster Hunter clone, but hey!). If it's in that particular genre and actually has a story, I'm sold.

Now, I don't think it's a PSVita game unless that was a teaser trailer. As beefy as the PSVita is, some of the effects would be pretty hard to achieve on a mobile platform - I'm thinking PS3 although I sincerely hope that I'm wrong as it'd be an awesome thing to have on the go.

At least they should make it a timed exclusive to help the Vita, that way if sales don't go that well they'll always make it more profitable with the PS3. Besides these types of games fits better on handheld systems, at least in Japan.

I don't quite see why - while there is some overlap between handheld and home console owners, that overlap would likely prefer a Cross-Buy version. If anything, there should be exclusive Home Console and PSVita content and the game should be Cross-Buy - that way you entice the buyers to get both consoles and uncover all of the content.

...naturally this shouldn't be in any way related to the main story or trophies, it shouldn't spoil the game. I'm thinking additional skins, minigames, some extra dialogue, that kind of stuff.

Still think the Vita should have this as an exclusive game, it's a perfect fit. I don't see people going as far as purchasing a new system for a few skins when they have the same game on their PS3. A home console being the superior system to have it on for the majority of western gamers. What you describe could work well in Japan though.

I sort of like the idea of being able to play a game on the big screen at home, then taking my save with me and playing it on the bus - I think it's genius and seeing that with a Cross-Buy game you get it at no or very little extra cost, it's definitely a cool thing. People don't always have the time to sit on their couch for long hours - sometimes all they have is 15 minutes before the next train arrives and that's just about enough for a short quest to kill time.

The main character looks like the main character from The World Ends with You. He looks almost exactly the same except with more detail.. At first I thought this was one of those games. The style looks like it too.

1:08 Lol Dutch in a Japanese trailer. The game itself... Dunno, I can't really judge it without knowing what the gameplay is like.

Judging from the trailer....meh. The trailer is really poorly made (most of all, the music). Seems that the game is overflowing with Japan themes. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but the trailer just repeatedly slapped JRPG into my face. Can't say I like that approach.
