Hacking What, realistically, do you think the Wii is still capable of, but hasn't yet been realized?

In other words, what homebrew would you like to see that haven't seen yet on the Wii that you think it could possibly have.

I think this could make for a good list of ideas/inspiration for any homebrew developer's out there looking for a new project.

Here are my thoughts:

realistic/happening:

Not/Wii64 improvements - I see this is already happening, whether or not EmuKidd ever makes another official new release of the Wii64, I see Extrems has done a fantastic job with his Not64 updates. Its still not perfect, but compatability and speeds are getting substantially better, many many games are playable, and I think as long as people like them keep working on it, it will only get better.

seems realistic, why isn't it happening?:

Genplus GX - 32x support. I know that this isn't an easy thing to do, but surely the Wii should be capable of running 32x games. The google code issues page reads: issue priority: low, status: standby (no one has taken the task, waiting to be taken). On January 26th, 2010, the project manager ekeeke31 state:
32x hardware would need to be emulated first, which is not an easy task considering
everything would need to be done from scratch or quite.
Also, it's very unlikely the Wii processor is fast enough to run Genesis + 32x add-on
at full speed. The two SH2 processors that need to be emulated are probably overkill
which mean the code would also need to be VERY optimized.
However, I leave this feature open as this project can easily be ported to other
platforms as well (including PC) and adding 32x emulation to this project is a nice
challenge. Don't expect anything to happen until a very long time though, in short
words, it's very unlikely you will ever play 32x games on your Wii.
seems like its a challenge but doable, questionably so for the Wii, but again, could be a challenge. However, more recently, in January of this year, ekeeke said:
Even if WiiU homebrew is possible someday (which would probably require a new devkit and support libraries, which is not as "simple" as the move from gc to wii homebrew), i don't have a WiiU and do not plan to get one so it doesn't really change anything.
Also, target performance is not really the main factor, this emulator is portable and 32x could benefits to other platform including PC as well. Writing a 32x emulator requires lot of work and i simply do not have the time and motivation to do it.
If this were ever to get done it would have to be by someone who knows what they're doing and its not going to be ekeeke.

Questionably Realistic, not holding my breath:

DesMume - improved to be playable at decent speeds at at least a few games.

I should know this to be unrealistic, yet some how I can't dismiss the possibility:

Yabuse - running at a playable speed.

Dreamcast - supposedly someone started work on a Dreamcast emulator a few years ago, he probably failed, still I can't help but think that it could be possible.

Things I've thought of (some extremely complicated but I think technically possible) ...

- "AutoWiinjector" Injecting and running VC games on the fly (No one take this idea. I'm already planning on it.)
- dreamcast emulator
- Mac virtual machine (like for the old, PowerPC Mac OS's)
- Torrent client
- Java virtual machine
- mini-based DS emulator (running DS games on "Starlet", the ARM processor that the IOS's run on) I'm sure it would require a HUGE amount of patching to get them to run ... but technically I think it would be possible and ARM code on an ARM proc would probably still be more efficient then running them in an emulator on the PowerPC proc.

That's all for now.

EDIT : Oh, and I want a GBA emulator that can connect with a real GBA through the GameCube port.

Oh I forgot to mention this unique idea I think.

I know that GeexBox (of all things) can communicate with bluetooth devices, in theory, I'd like to see an application be it WiiMC or even GeexBox. Where you can connect to the app with your smartphone and stream the audio straight to your wii, essentially turning your smartphone into a remote control for your music. This would be very cool, if (like me) you connect your audio cords to a speaker system, but the video to the tv. Because, any time I leave my Wii, I would always make sure to leave to that application (Wii MC or whatever) with the bluetooth mode ready. Then I could change the input and everything, but if I entered the house/room and sync my phone to the Wii, I can start controlling the music without actually using the Wii. I guess what I'm saying is I'd like this advanced kind of stereo mode, if the Wii truly can connect to smartphones via bluetooth.

I know a Dreamcast emulator was started a long time ago by Alucard but the source and beta builds were never released.

It's a really darn shame, it has almost all of my favorite fighting games are on that system :(

A much better DS emulator is possible too and of course, a new version of N64Wii is still in the works.

I think DS and N64 emulators are in the realm of possibility. Maybe even Saturn, if someone puts their mind to it. Dreamcast, I highly doubt ever being playable.

There is actually an early port of Mini Vmac to libretro, could be a decent start to getting one on the Wii.
- Java virtual machine
On this subject, it'd be nice to see J2ME games on Wii--old-style Java phone games. Most of them sucked, but there was some good stuff. The DS had one, Pstros NDS, which ran a lot of games quite well, shouldn't be a problem for the Wii.

Otherwise, that Aleph One port (plays the entirety of Bungie's now-freeware Marathon trilogy) definitely looked/looks pretty exciting, but the developer hit a few walls I'm not sure he was ever able to get past. They seemed like a perfect fit for the Wii, too.

I have a samsung smart phone, Samsung TV and Windows 7 and a router.
I can do all you mention right out of the box.

Cool, I don't have all of that. I do have a mini bluetooth speaker, but my wii is hooked up to a nice sound system (albeit old), would be nice to play my smart phone music through my the better speakers.

I'd like to see a different app/mod that acts like Devo, except without AP, with Wii Classic controller support, and with the padhook ability of DM.

This next one is pretty far fetched but it would be really cool if someone could do it...

Make it so that the DS and the Wii can transfer info between each other. I know there's ways to download DS demos onto the DS through the Wii. But if someone could do more than that. Like make it so that you could transfer files between one another. Or EVEN COOLER, make it so that the DS can stream it's video signal (e.g., Video from the TOP screen) over to the Wii, so that it can then be displayed on the TV.

I'm sure it would also involve some kind of mod to exist on the DS. That way the DS knows to send specific info wirelessly over to the Wii. It's extremely far fetched, but would be freakin' awesome.

I'd also like to see a few other things with emulators but most of you have already mentioned them. :P

There are devices that you can connect to your audio set that can stream bleutooth.
But I get your point.
Right now the only way to do it in WiiMC is via a home network/ shared folders.
If you have a Windows phone it might be possible.

If I had my wish, it would be minecraft on the wii/wiiU. I really don't like it on the xbox360, and it would be cool to add mods like the comp version.
