Cut him/her a little slack; I would not have thought of going to that thread for recommendations, either.
The thread itself doesn't have recommendations, it points out that there's no actual 3DS flash carts, they're just DS flash carts, so all the info is in the other section. This includes notes onm how they run, the list of supported carts, etc.
Okay, I can understand where you're coming from. That makes sense. But he may have posted this here to skip the whole asking of, "Which work with 3ds"?
I'm sure he understands that 3DS backups cannot be played as of yet.
Get the R4i Gold 3DS if your looking to play 3DS roms then your out of luck because nothing play 3DS roms
The thing is just because a cart works on the 3DS doesn't mean it's a good cart. That's why there's entire threads dedicated to the subject.
I should've added, yes, this one works fine! At least on firmware 4.xx.xx (I'm not very knowlegable on 3DS firmware names. I'm used to the "3.11, 4.21", etc. of Sony products, so sorry if that's not very accurate).
I can't confirm if it will work on the firmware, but it sounds like Tacky took the dive to update and tested it out!

So I'm thinking of the R4i gold from shoptemp after looking over a few threads and such. Cheap and affordable and definitely works. Thanks for your help guys.
There is no wonder,the best r4i cart is r4i gold rts 3ds from r4ids.cn,which use famous wood firmware,with a quicker updating and friendly GUI. and it can work well on your 3ds v5.1.0-11,you can choose stores from r4ids.cn official distributor list or shop temp or just google.
Personally, I recommend the R4i3ds. The dstwo is also a good choice. I Reccomend you stick with one of those and make sure you purchase it from one of these sites

I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
