Gaming [Theory] Nintendo Intentionally limiting stock for popular 3ds games

First fire emblem and now Luigi's dark moon. Its not a coincidence with them announcing their digital sales apparently soaring. They are intentionally limiting stock so that die hard fans or people who can't wait buy games off the eshop which they receive 100% profit. The eshop is complete bs, yes its easy to use but its not tied to any type of account so when you lose or get your 3ds stolen poof all your games are gone.

Their excuse that they didn't anticipate the popularity may have worked with fire emblem but a luigi game? With Mario and spinoffs stuff being so popular today? I don't think so.

People have to oppose this kind of practice. Easy way is to not buy digital version of popular games but I know people won't do that. Instead I encourage everyone to spread the word. I personally think stopping this kind of stuff is good for the consumer in the long run.

High demands, Luigi Mansions sold over 400K first week alone towards the end of March. Fire Emblem was a bomb on previous entries, but Awakening is doing beyond their expectations.

For luigi's mansion just try and order the game retail, even amazon has a 2-3 week delay.

Please spare me the talk about how they didn't anticipate demands when every other publisher manages to give out correct stock just fine.

Unless you can take the file to another 3ds like a cart (I know you cannot), then sure as hell not me! There should be incentive. Either make it downloadable to a max (say 3) devices or since they make full profit cut the price at the very least by 5 USD.

I won't buy over-priced digital games fullstop, why would i pay 39.99 for a game when i can purchase a hard copy for 32.99 with free delivery? (quoting Luigi's Mansion 2 price on Amazon).

If there is a shortage of said game then i will wait until re-stocked, but i will never endorse these practices.

Digital sales are rising, obviously Nintendo is plotting to annihilate the retail industry.

NEWSFLASH:

Game companies have been doing this for a long time. It's the best way to create demand for it. And guess what, it's working. I never had trouble getting Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, and Fire Emblem is everywhere here. So no, I don't support you because you're just being impatient and getting mad at Nintendo for wanting to make money.

Normally,most of the popular games never go out of stock here, but in sites like Amazon and ebay,they are almost every time.
and i don´t care about the digital downloads,there are stores here that offer a closed game box without the game, just the manual and stuff,you just have to show them that you have the game downloaded on your 3DS.

So your supporting evidence to Nintendo intentionally limiting stock is an article about shipment delays and rising digital sales? Honestly, I think this is as ridiculous as those conspiracy theories floating around about Nintendo intentionally limiting Wii stock back when it first launched.

Obviously supply and demand play a big role in stock shortages in some highly anticipated games, but that's more so at launch and the proceeding weeks. I haven't had any such troubles finding games in stock, and even if I did, most online retail stores have them in stock and with free shipping to boot.

I don't know about you, but I didn't have to search around at all to get my copy of Fire Emblem. It was right there at EB Games when I got it.

Walmart told me to come back in Christmas 2014 to get a copy of Fire Emblem Awakening. So I just ordered from Amazon. If there's a shortage of physical hard copies of a game, I'll just keep looking until I find it. I can see the pros of having digital titles, but as a collector, I cannot stand digital versions of a game.

I do, for a portable system it kind of makes sense, rather than carrying a bunch of games with you where ever you go. I do agree tho that it sucks that the games are tied to the system and not an account, would be nice if they did it like sony does with psn downloads.

A lot of people actually.

Personally, I either buy the digital version for 40 bucks or import the retail one for 90. And I don't know about you but I think $90 is quite a bit of money to spend on one video game.

Luigi's Mansion and Fire Emblem are both out of stock in my local Walmart. But then again I'm in Virginia Beach, in one of the most heavily populated general areas in the US (Norfolk is our close neighbor, you can drive into it without even noticing you left one city to go to another).

However, back when I lived in Lexington, Virginia, in the middle of the mountains in a city that's like 3 miles by three miles, no video game things were ever out of stock.

They ship the same amounts to stores per shipment, but stores in different locations use up their shipments (and then need more) at very different rates.
