Trying to transfer VC games from Wii to Wii U, but to do that I need to download the transfer tool so naturally, it requires me to update the channel. Either the hacks I installed are conflicting or the Wii's WiFi hardware is obliterated.

Every device works on my current apartment network, so I know it isn't the router. Hell, even the Wii U connects and streams Netflix fine on this wireless network, but the Wii cannot download the update. It finds the access point just fine and even passes the connection test, which is weird. But when it comes to downloading the update for the shopping channel, it shows the update progress bar for two seconds then it gives me a connection error, stopping the update.

Is there any way to update the channel without downloading it (i.e. installing a wad perhaps)?

Wii system 4.3
HBC installed 1.1.1

Otherwise, I'll have to pay for the full price of the games in question, yeah, not doing it. I have tried more than fifteen times to connect and download the update....no dice.

Yes, there are emulators in the vWii mode, but I like the idea of being able to transfer the games and play them on the gamepad.

Download it on a PC using NUSD. When I did my system transfer none of the homebrew shop channel updaters had the latest version anyway and that might still be the case.

Okay, download NUSD, choose the latest version of the Shopping Channel, install Wad, should be able to install transfer tool. Got it.

The wad I got is called "RVL-Shopping-21" which I hope is the right one.

That's the same one I used if I recall correctly, so it should be right.
Edit: Make sure you install IOS62 as well.

A bit of a hijack: is it possible to selectively transfer content from Wii to U? As in, does it dump the entire contents over, or can you do it piecemeal?

You update the database on NUS and it'll then have IOS62 listed.
D'oh! Didn't think to do that !

Not sure, I did manage to get the wads I needed though; wish someone told me that I had to update the database though :shy: Still, I wish I knew WHY the Wii refuses to properly establish a wireless connection when every other device (Wii U included ) connect. It's just frustrating that I haven't been able to use WiFi properly with this machine; I just hope I can actually download the program itself, unless there is a way to install the wad for the Transfer App without having to go to it, but I doubt such a wad exists. I'll give this a shot and let you guys know; thanks again B-)

You need to get the IOS62 (required for Wii to Wii U transfering) and the Wii Shop Channel v21 wad (not sure if I can upload it).

After that install both IOS62 and Wii shop wads with IOS249, if that does not work try IOS236.

I have both wads now, so I just need to install them under IOS249. Hopefully, it doesn't screw any other installed hacks currently on the console.

Trust me, I have friends with hacked wii's and they successfully transfered everything to their Wii U without interruptions or errors, it works as fine as an original Wii.

Your Wii however does get pretty empty like its brand new, but the hacks remain.

Good, I'll try it today and let you know; worse case scenario, what it for some reason I can't download the transfer app? Is there a wad for that by chance?

Don't worry, the transfer app does work because you're using an original Wii Shop Channel wad.

Oh, good, and it is safe to assume the the homebrew stuff currently on my SDHC card will remain intact during and after the transfer? I did back it up as a precaution, just wanted to double check.

Its best to just backup your entire SDHC card and then format it, the transfer app uses the SDHC for both the Wii and Wii U when transferring and we don't know for sure if the hacks on the SDHC card will interfere with the transfer files.

BTW the only reason when you try to update the Wii Shop Channel and it gives you a connection error it means your priiloader hack is blocking the update, otherwise the update would remove your hacks and brick your Wii, not just update the Wii Shop Channel, be thankful for that :P

Of course, I had a feeling Priiloader was involved somehow, it all makes sense now that I think about it. These wad files bypass the blocked update in order to retain my hacks. Boy, did I derp big time for not realizing that before

Don't remove that block. again if you try to update the Wii Shop Channel without the Priiloader's block, the update will remove every trace of hack on your Wii and may (or may not) brick your Wii.

The wad files are installed by a program and a custom IOS, therefore Priiloader does not block, Priiloader only blocks Nintendo official updates coming from discs or online.

Oh, I won't, but at least I know why it didn't work, I should have realized it was Priiloader blocking the updates and not me losing my sanity. I would never disable Priiloader.
