Assuming any and all sticky threads have been consulted and the latest version of IOS236 is installed (my reasons per here), we all know the Photo Channel can be installed. I personally used Dop-Mii to install the latest version; I know MultiModManager can as well and we of course have WAD managers. However, the problem I have encountered with my vWii Photo Channel is the lack of SDHC compatibility due to no IOS 61. In a different thread member asper mentioned the following:

Yes, it can be installed normally until 1.1v2; 1.1v3 requires that you patch the WAD (downloaded from NUS) and select IOS31 as base IOS instead of IOS61 (IOS13 and IOS31 are present in vWii, and they are used by all older Photo Channel versions [1.1v2 and olders], while IOS61 is not installed in vWii). You can do that by using CustomizeMii: tested and working.

I'm assuming I could download the Photo Channel from NUS downloader or extract it from my nand backup and change the IOS flag, but is it possible to create an installer (or update the ones I mentioned above) to patch the Photo Channel on the fly? Simply curious if it's an easy matter; a coder I am not unfortunately.

Thought someone might be interested in this, if for no other reason than it's a break in the 'I installed Priiloader now my vWii doesn't work' threads. No one else has interest in such a tool?

Honestly, I'm interested as i'm trying to do the exact same thing!
I managed to get the news, weather channel, photo channel 1.0 etc but I want photo channel 1.1 too but since there is no vWii ios 61, it doesn't work
also I tried what you said about changing the base wad to 31 but customizemii says
"banner_Rso0.brlan is not a valid brlan filename!"
:hateit:
sorry that this reply came late xD I only had a wiihacks account at the time...

Ok i've been trying very hard and I DID IT!
I managed to make a photo channel 1.1 for vwii!
its 1.1a instead of 1.1b though, it crashes with 1.1b even if the ios is set to 31
but they are basicly identical anyway changing the id from haya to pc11 (stands for PhotoChannel1.1) fixed it for vwii
well here is the link:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/28742532/wii%20stuff/Photo%20Channel%201.1%20-%20PC11.wad
NOTE: Should work on all regions, only tested on PAL and on dolphin emulator (PAL installed on that)

Just to confirm, your modified WAD does provide SDHC support, correct? I only ask because I have successfully installed Photo Channel 1.1 already on vWii using Dop-Mii, I just don't have SDHC support.

For your weather channel, were you able to get it to work? I have it installed successfully and I use ConnectMii to turn on WiiConnect24, but the channel itself does not connect (gives Nintendo Network Error msg); same with the Nintendo Channel. However, the News Channel and Everybody Votes channels do work correctly.

What other channels are you trying to install on your vWii?

It did not work with sdhc support unfortunately.... 1.1b has sdhc I think, this is 1.1a which can save an icon to the system menu, and for the weather channel, news channel etc..... I don't know if they will work if you use connectmii haven't tried xD
the only reason I installed them was to make the menu colourful (Not joking)

That's the only reason I am doing this as well!

Hey guys, I know you're interested in getting all these channels on the vWii, but:

http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/12/wii-forecast-news-other-channels-going-offline-in-june/

Seems like as of June, any of them which require an internet connection will be going offline.

Bummer. :hateit:

I was rather annoyed to read this this morning; I figured they would leave the channels going since they still advertise them prominently as features on the Nintendo website. Oh well; at least the icons will still make my vWii look cool :)
This is Photo Channel 1.1v3 - HAYA - (IOS31) [latest available version].

IOS31 must be present (it should be already present in a vWii), check with SysCheck.

Tested and working under vWii; if you have problems try to uninstall old photo channel (ex. with Any Title Deleter Mod) and then install this 1.1v3.
I will be giving this a try later on tonight; thanks for the effort asper!

Ok IT WORKS!!!
but it works the same way as the custom mii channel I made,
works absolutely fine! Thank you! however when you go to the data management>sd card
the vWii freezes :(
But the chance of transferring save files from my old-old wii (I have 2, one was my gaming wii and one is for homebrewing) is unlikely to happen again :)
Yours is better because my 1.1a photo channel made data management freeze entirely!

By the way

1.1b doesn't have sdhc, so the one asper provided is basically the same as photo 1.1a EXCEPT his is way more safer to install and it feels good to have the latest :P

yah I was noticing the lack of SDHC; still better than nothing though! and luckily this channel will continue to work since it is not network reliant

Thank you for testing out ;)

The freeze can be due to the fact that v3 may request some SD function that are not present in IOS31 but are only present in IOS61; did you try a non-SDHC card and see if the freeze persists ?

Maybe this old sven post may help someone to understand the problem.
