Hello everyone, I've perused so many threads on this to no avail so finally going to post... I have a DSI with 1.4.4U firmware on it so it's blocking the card from execution and I'm attempting to flash a firmware to it...

1) I've verified that it's a real card
2) The icon that pops up on my DS is a Spongebob one
3) I have access to a DS Lite, DSI and 3DS on newer firmwares of course

The 2 updates I've been trying are 'DSTTi upgrade version 1.43 and 1.44, with both when I attempt to execute the flash the DS just goes black. I've tried with different SD as well, in order to even check the card's authenticity I downgraded the kernel to 1.17, anyone please help.. This is for my brother stationed in Iraq, he leaves soon again and I wanted to surprise him with a setup. Selfishly I don't want to give him my console (I got him a nice hot-pink DSI to go with the military buddies).

Any guidance would be great, this shouldn't have turned into such a large time-abyss

You need to get the update from the site printed on the cart. Make sure you're typing the URL exactly, there's a lot of similar ones.
Rydian, it'd litrally "WWW.NDSTT.COM," which will take me to a 1.4.1 (TTICHECK3.0) test program that verifies authenticity of the card.. Supposedley, which it passes and has the icon which states it needs to be updated... Actually the Ingrish is "Need upgrade check program from our website," and that's as far as it goes...

So this round I've formatted a smaller micro sd 4gb card and
1) placed the v1.17 kernel on the card root..
2) Pulled the TTi_141_Check_v3.0 and placed it on root from the website and verified the checksum... Verified
3) Ran the check, this time it came up with a

TTi 1.41&1.42C Firmware Upgrade Loading
-----------------------------------------------
Card version not supported.
Update the program from:
http://www.ndstt.com
-----------------------------------------------

And the screen color was a putrid green.. The icon on the top screen is a ?? double question mark computer...
What am I doing wrong???

Thanks so much

And this is on my DS Lite, I also have a DSTWO and a old DSTT card, although I don't know how that could possibly help but you never know

It's a fake... Just cracked the plastic apart as I noticed the serial number on the back is identical to the old(fake) one I have... It's just a better replica, the inside doesn't match what I see on their website.. I don't suppose there's a way to update a fake?

No.

Get another flashcard, this time reputable one such as R4i DS Gold.

To clarify a bit, firmware updates are encrypted and per-cart, which is why I stressed the update needs to come from the site printed on it.

In the case of a fake, it's sometimes dubious whether the official updates will work, but to top it off in your case the cart it's faking hasn't made updates either.
