Sorry to say I have also get this card - also 2013 version - but sorry to say that the site is scam - card isn't working on current 3ds fw update... Even if the site stated that it is working... here kernel is not the key thing - it should get card FW update - here sorry to say it is probably impossible that they update it. Also this "producer" sells clone of legit R4i - known as fake one - it uses Wood 1.51 and since almost half of year kernel isn't updated - legit r4i now have Wood 1.57 - on r4i gold-com is not possible to use it since legit Wood was crypted.
In my oponion you should return it to shop where you bought it... and get another card like DSTWO or sth else like legit R4i http://www.r4ids.cn/.

Teams that release new models specifically for an update rarely, if ever, update the older models.

If even they update we do not have info about when it will be or even if Ninny updates again and they not release update for current... try legit one. But even if they update you are currently updated 3DS so to update card you must run this card on another 3DS with lower FW on current FW it is impossible to update card FW.
EDIT: Rydian - for me they're not team they're simple scam - look at this site www.4ri-gold.com - it stated that my 2013 version is working on current 3DS fw but it is not... also they have another site with other cards "White", "Silver" and etc... I am also member of they're forum that is almost copy of DSTWO forum with functions like - to get files just send reply and etc. And know that other cards from their offer also have updates only on paper... not on real support
I must admit that for me this sites must be in my opinion strongly criticized in order to help users to not get robbed I am one of person that try to help users from that forum and inform about alternatives and etc... and also recomend to register here... I know that I am not long term user but I've ofted readed gbatemp since long time.

Open your r4i-gold pro, check the chip and below is for 2013 version. Any difference ?
I opened mine and there isnt the second block on the top (the smaller one). So i guess it is not working with the update.
i got a 2013 version and it works really fine on ver.4.40 i havent try the 5.0.0,11 ver because im scared to update my 3ds

I just tested my newest 2013 R4i-gold Pro, it can work on 3DS 5.0.0.11 firmware directly. It does not need to update. When I tried to update the card, it does not work on 3DS 5.0.0.11 any more. But it can still work on my DSi console.
So we should not update it for 3DS 5.0.0-11 if it is the new 2013 R4i-gold Pro .
the problem is guys they only announced the 2013 version last week
so this means that if you bought it in 2013 doesnt mean its the 2013 version -_-
some sites will get stock before they publish it on there site so it is possible for someone to have the new 2013 card if they bought it very recently
the problem is the fact 4.4.0-10 started a trend with updates where a save IC was needed for games to work
the reason cards got up to 4.5.0-10 was the fact there was 2 games found that didnt need save IC's (one was used on 4.4.0-10 & the other on 4.5.0-10)
so now we have arrived at 5.0.0-11 there is no games without save IC's left to use so all new cards have to be fitted with them and its a hardware revision so a firmware update wont do it
why are DSTwo & R4ids.cn/R4idsn.com cards still top?
because Rev C which was released before the updates included a save IC (its like they knew ;D)
and Supercard DSTwo is currently the only card that can 100% emulate a DS cartridge so they will never be able to stop it because theres nothing it cant emulate (its why its expensive because its the most complex)

Dammit!! Might that be my problem? I updated it. Although I don't know if it's 2013 version or no. Anyway firmware download link of 2013 version is dead. Maybe we could update again the card when the link is ok?
wew, good thing I found this thread....I also have this card, since I can't afford the DSTWO, and I'm afraid to update to the latest firmware. I hope they update the firmware. Btw, does the new firmware make a huge difference in terms of features and performance?
