Bought a used wii that I know nothing about what the previous owner has done to it. I found a SD
Card in the wii, but it had pictures and what looked like game saves only. I don't think it has been soft modded before. When you power it on, it seems as if it gets frozen at the Health and Safety screen. It does not display the flashing A to continue to the wii channels screen. It did allow me to sync up a controller. I tried to hold the reset button while starting, no results. I also tried powering on without the sd card, no results. I tried powering on and then holding both - and + buttons while pressing A on the remote, still nothing. Any ideas? Or is this just going to be good for some parts? It would be nice to get running again, but seems like the software is corrupt or missing files.

The files / foilders on the SD card are these:

.Trashes (Empty Folder)
DCIM (Folder with picture files)
MISC (Folder with one Java Registration Code Text file)
private (Folder with wii folder inside, inside wii folder is two more folders, data and title)
._.Trashes (File)
.HPIMAGE.VFS (File)
prepatch (File)
WMPInfo (File)

When you power on does the disc slot flash once then twice fast? If it does you might have bootmii as bootmii2. Then all you would need is the Bootmii folder on the root of your SD card fingers crossed!

I just powered it on and did not see any lights come on at all around the disc slot. They only come on, when you insert a disc. I was hoping that I may have had a chance at getting through.

does it have a modchip that enables disk booting when u turn it on?

I am new to wii's, so I am not sure what a modchip would look like. When I did a dis-assembly, it looke 100% as if the unit had never been taken apart though. If it had been before, then they replaced every rubber pad and white screw sticker cover. I really don't think any hardware has been changed/modified.

Have you got a gamecube controller to try savemii frii . And a disk with 4.3u update on it.

I don't have a gamecube controller, but I am going to try to pick one up from ebay or look at garage sales / goodwill / etc... for one. I was actually just reading about the savemiifrii about 20 minutes ago before I saw your reply. I will have to give this a try for sure.

It's probably a theme brick.Without priiloader it's a brick.Makes sense to sell it; your only options are to try to load up bootmii2 or sell it.

How would I load up bootmii2 without being able to get into the menu of the wii? I bought it knowingly broken to get some parts to fix another broken wii I had, so I am not totally out on it at all. I just thought it would be nice to get fixed, so I could give it to my nephews to play. They love the wii when they come over :)

Can anyone point me to a more recent tutorial on using savemii frii ? Everything I find on it is pretty dated and I am sure there are probably better methods and better solderless mod chips to use now. Thanks.

Bootmii 2 boots before the warning screen, allowing you to skip the broken menu. You need it on the nand and SD card inserted.I'm not sure where on the SD but I could give you a copy of my own data that will take a while though especially since I don't have it on me.

However,it is required to have it on the Nand I believe. If it isn't, your pretty much screwed.
