I said this is a rumor. I heard that just 1 day ago. I found some sources but can not get significant provements so i post this here. Please not reply with only something like "I hate piracy.." Because this is only a thing to be verified, not a thread for those debating about their opinion of the hacking. After someone checked it exactly i will close this.
The IRC log those news attached (but i think IRC log is nothing more than a joke if not confirmed)

Well.. Try to search Google with these terms "geohot 3ds" and you will get the links.

OneWithMoreDetail said it was on #3dsdev, However i'm not there when it happened.

Even if the guy is telling the truth, I don't see how any of that indicates it's Geohot that's involved. The linked article just speculates it, seemingly out of nowhere.

I don't think this is real as it doesn't come from a reliable source, anyways even if he was able to dump the ram and sd card(whatever he means by this) what will he able to do? He's doing the same thing as neimod, I don't think the outcome of this will be any different than neimod's.

I got this news first from Tieba.
The reason why i stopped posting on TGBUS is because one of the BZ Deleted my thread which i wrote to inform those who want to donate to the 3dbrew using Paypal. (He thought that was Ad but he can not recovery it after he received my message about that. Well this doesn't matter much now).
What you posted is what i got at the first time. but i find something about the IRC log. The source i posted on the #1 does show that it may comes from #3dsdev so i think that has more details in it so i chose that.
Well I found nothing English or on Homebrew site so i doubt its truth. It may be a April Fool's Day joke.
I post this only for proof that can confirm it is true or not. That's what i try to reminder others with the red.
The nickname 'bob_' is too bad for someone to chat on IRC as something like 'n00b2037' does, but that may be someone who tried hard to hide himself.

You know, I could actually make a "Geohot: Common Myths" thread, because of how often stuff like this goes around.

Also things like "Geohot's never hacked anything", where I need to point that scenes other than video games exist and he did a lot of the first iOS hacks, etc... can't tell you how many people shit-talked him in the early PS3 days when rumors started flying around, and I told them to fire up whatever iOS hacking app it was (one of the *rains or some shit like that) and click the "about" button, only to see their face when they read his name as the author, 'ya know?

IIRC what he actually said regarding the PS3 scene was something about releasing an exploit (not any full-on software) early that he found, but other people didn't want him to because they knew Sony would patch it before other people could develop stuff to use it properly.

Geohot, being from the iOS scene AFAIK, didn't give a shit. With iOS you can refuse software updates (and in fact updating the device is often a long process that you have to do manually half the time anyways from what I experienced with my iPad) so having an exploit for a software one major version behind wasn't considered a detriment, whereas with consoles where major software forces an update before you can run it (notedly unlike the mobile scene), having an exploit patched is a serious detriment.

However the story came out, people read "Devs don't want geohot to release the exploit they intend to use", people re-reported as "devs don't want geohot to release their exploit", then that got reported as "Geohot takes exploit from devs", etc.

As far as all the accusations people made of him in the iOS scene, and such, it's covered here.

They are s*** to frighten those to check the possible exploits, or are they trying to persuade the devs to run piracy? I hate them of their false accusation.

That's what I was thinking too, but I saw the part of "webkit", so I wasn't sure if it was referring to the actual browser, the SDK for the browser (sdk = devkit, so web browser sdk might = webkit), or if it was referring to the engine the browser uses.
