Did you miss out on the Ultimate Loot Chest last year? Here's your chance at another one!

Gearbox are releasing another Loot Chest at a limited production run of 5,000 (the previous Ultimate Loot Chest was limited to 53,160 copies across all platforms). So the Diamond Plate Loot Chest will be even harder to get.

This is not a second production run of the original chest. This is a cosmetically different chest (compare with the original) with different contents:
Product Specifications
  • Swag-filled Limited Edition Diamond Plate Loot Chest
  • Officially licensed Borderlands 2 collectible
  • Announced at PAX East 2013: A ThinkGeek exclusive!
  • Includes:
    • Diamond Plate Loot Chest
    • Loot Chest Certificate of Authenticity
    • A rare vacuform Goliath mask w/ SHiFT code that unlocks the head in-game
    • 20 Trading cards with SHiFT codes that unlock Legendary items in game (at current level of player)
    • Vault Hunters Wanted Poster
    • Window Decals for Hyperion, Jakobs, Maliwan, and more
  • Dimensions of Loot Chest: approx. 18" long x 8" deep x 6.25" tall

The game will not be included with this loot chest and will retail for $99.99. It will be available exclusively through ThinkGeek and Gearbox.

Oh yeah, I'm totally going to get one of these... Not. It's basically a hundred bucks for a few SHiFT codes in a cool box. Might as well go the whole hog and start selling them on the PSN Store since, y'know, microtransactions are apparently the new thing in retail games.

The stupid thing about releasing toys this long after the game release is that you're damned if you do include the game (the ones interested already have it) and damned if you don't ("omg, 100 bucks for basically plastic!!??!").

Morale: don't sell this stuff long after the game release.

A third option would be to sell it long after the game release, without the game, for $50.

How much did the first chest cost? It sells for $250 on eBay now.

How would they be damned if they do include the game? It'd be more of an incentive to buy it then.
And no sign of a level cap raise :(
April.
