Hello to all. Nothing like having kids with game systems to keep daddy busy :)

I currently have:

PSP 3000 (x2) - Soft Mod
3DS (2) - Mario Edition
DSi - R4 Cart
Wii Mario Edition - BootMii, HomeBrew
Wii Skylanders Edtion - Untouched for now.
XBOX 360 (4) - Soon to be ODDE
SONY PS3 - Staying original!

As you can see, multi systems and multi kids = need for mods on the systems. Nothing is more hair-pulling than having kids fight over a game (like Sims 3 for PSP). Thanks to soft Mod ability, they both play it, but still fight with each other.

I already looked at some threads similar to my Wii issue that debate of policy and rules were taking place :)
That is just normal forum OT way of life, lol :)

I'm sure I will be needing your help :) Familiar with R4i 3DS new www.r4itt.net ? My Mario edition 3DS's do not like it, but the DSi does. I know off-topic, but you asked :) I will eventually ask in the proper forum section.

Excuse my ignorance... I am taking it that since my 3DS units have the Mario in it, that version has firmware blocking the carts? My 3DS units never been updated by me. Same as when I bought them at Best Buy during 2012 X-Mas. I have upgraded the carts provided by the the site mentioned before. My daughters friend has an old 3DS and the carts work perfectly (same firmware version).

Thanks for input :) I met the Xbox 360 GURU and I guess I am meeting the 3DS GURU now :)

Game systems don't ship with software 1.0 forever, every so often the factories start putting whatever was the latest on there at the time, so it's common to buy a system, take it out of the box, and find it on a semi-recent (if not the latest) update.

Updates need to match or exceed a firmware version. If your carts only update to account for 4.2 but the 3DS system is at 4.3 (example numbers), it will not work no matter how often you apply the update because the update is too old.

http://www.r4itt.net/?c=gamekernel
This page lists how far the team has updated their carts. If you are dealing with older models, you're fucked (to put it bluntly), you will never be able to update them for the new 3DS security since only updates from the team work, and they stopped making them.

Things can work on the DSi but not the 3DS because the DSi and 3DS have different firmware updates, and it's entirely possible for a DSi to be on a less-recent firmware than a 3DS because the DSi doesn't force updates before games play, unlike the 3DS.

I understand all that :)

Ver 4.3.0-10U 3DS Super Mario 3d Land Edition (cart does not work.. properly)

An old 3DS with same version it does work on.. that is where I am baffled.

Am I not understanding something you are trying so patiently to explain to me? lol

Right now, I am looking for something CHEAP just so the kids can play DS roms on their 3ds. I don't care if it is a Chinese copy (gotta love their attitude to copyrights). I know the 3ds units will be broken before next Christmas :)
So a $40 cart would not be practical. If I was a fan of Nintendo like my kids are, I would buy the Porsche of carts.

Thanks,
ISO-Man

I guess the problem would be good to tell you 1st :)

All games on the 3DS will start and randomly but near the start will come up with (Card has been removed not exact quote).

Oldest son has upgraded cart on him and not home.

I am playing the non-upgraded cart on the 3ds now (virtual villagers) 10 minutes I got this message 'The game card has been removed. Please turn the power off and reinsert the card'

Hope that helps :)

Hm, never seen that one before, but does it happen immediately if you shake the thing while it's on and playing?

No, that was the 1st thing I did to see if the contacts were an issue :) I am stumped! I thought maybe the special edition with the game software is the reason, but a friend has a daughter with a 3ds same version and it did the same as on mine. Only 1 3ds with same version it worked on with no problems. 3 does not work Vs 1 does work. Anytime my kids friends come over, the first thing I ask 'You have a 3DS?' :)

For fun, I just turned it upside down and whacked it good several times and got the message. Holding it upright and whacking it did nothing. Want me to try a retail 3ds cart upside down and see if I get error?

3DS cart no issue doing the same.. r4 cart does have insert eject issue compared to the 3ds cart.

Yeah.

Different DS units (DS/Lite/i/iXL/3DS/3DSXL) have differently-shaped slots by just a bit, and it's usually not an issue with 3DS games, but with flash carts (which aren't made using official parts), some of them are squeezed just right/wrong by the slot and don't make proper contact, or partially eject at times it seems in your case.

100% agree. Is there a fix or can u recommend a cheap cart (you normally wouldn't based on your chart) just so my kids can play their roms?

Thanks,
