Renegade Kid, the devs behind the DS FPS games, Dementium and Moon are currently making a new FPS for the 3DS eShop in the horror genre. Might be released in 2013, but most likely a 2014 release.

Sandstorm effect is this game's "mist." Game takes place in Texas.

Will be released episodically; there will be three episodes per season, each episode will be about four hours long. There is a bigger emphasis on story than any previous Renegade Kid game.

They know the game looks like a DS game right now, but they wanted some footage to go with the announcement to set the feel. (The demo is called an "atmosphere" demo and there's basically no gameplay other than walking around the area.) They cited RE Revelations as a fantastic looking game they're striving towards, but also said they likely won't be able to get to that level because of their size.

Jools Watsham (RK co-founder, designer) said they have the story all planned (will include fictional religious details), but Gregg Hargrove (RK co-founder, art director) said they keep thinking of gameplay stuff they want to add to it ("Really do something special for our original fans", paraphrased.)

Circle Pad Pro-compatible.

Renegade Kid probably hopes this will become a cult classic.

Hopefully it'll be more like the Dementium games than the dull Moon game. From what I can see it looks very nice for a eShop title, not at all "DS game". I also quite like that they're going for a religious cult theme with the story, makes it stand out more.

It's actually the first first person shooter for the 3DS. though I hope the action is more in line with Dementium. One to look out for, I actually would like to see Nintendo help them out with this game.

Wow, those screenshots like wrench-ed.

I never really played Demetium on the DS but from my FPS experiences I absolutely can't stand stylus controls and analog + ABXY doesn't work super great. Still, this game seems a bit more about atmosphere than shooting so as long as it's functional and the rest of the game is good, then it's not a big deal.

I'm not sure those screens were a good idea. They really don't inspire much faith.

To be fair most handheld games don't look nearly as good until you see them yourself in motion. If you look at direct Vita screenies (using the screenshot tool it has) they look nowhere near as good as experiencing it in motion on the system with the OLED. It's mostly the same deal for the 3DS, swap OLED for 3D though.

Yeah, they're aware of that, it's just an early demo. They said that they're aiming for visuals close to Revelations though so it should improve over time.

Eh, there's always the tumour or gyro-aiming.

I agree, these screens make it look like someone took a pipe wrench to it and beat the shit out of it.
