SQUARE ENIX have revealed today that the HD REMASTERS of Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 will be releasing Worldwide later this year! Will you battle Sin? or will you try to become a Sphere Hunter?

As the picture above says; this thread is about the upcoming Remaster of the Tenth Final Fantasy title(s); the games name will be "FINAL FANTASY X|X-2 HD REMASTER" for the PS3 Version and for the PSVita Versions you just have "FINAL FANTASY X HD REMASTER" and "FINAL FANTASY X-2 HD REMASTER"

(Just so we're aware... Both versions are the "INTERNATIONAL" versions. Which have added content; Which means for the first time for North American audiences you can enjoy the DARK AEONS and PENANCE Boss fights which were exclusively added to the International and PAL releases of the game. As for Final Fantasy X-2 International.... I don't know much... There's new bosses; Shinra is a playable character i believe in the extra story known as the "LAST MISSION" which challenges players to their skills.)

SQUARE ENIX also created the games Official Website page and have confirmed that the games official announcement trailer will be viewable on the site on the 25th March 2013; they will show off the two games progress so far... perhaps even something new to the games.

HD Tears! This scene will probably make me cry. She's so happy she's crying tears of joy instead of sorrow... This game finally saw the light of day and is gonna be in our hands later this year!

Share your thoughts? Will you be getting the HD Remasters of Final Fantasy X and X-2?
I am getting game on Day 1... I LOVED Final Fantasy X and I actually didn't mind X-2... I was a fan of the Active Time Battle [ATB] system.

Screenshots look awesome, Can't wait.
FFX was my first FF, can't wait to play it again in HD.

Which version are those screenshots for ps3 or psvita?

Im also interested to see how the special CG movies look in HD.

This will give you a good idea of what changes were made to the character models... And damn... they are very noticeable!
Lulu has way more detail to her clothes than ever before...improvements to her characters hair aswell.
Wakka has more humanoid structure such as proper fingers and thumbs, the clothing is also significantly improved.
Auron has more detail to hair and clothing again. specifically that line going down his trousers.
At the back there the plants are also nicely redone. and the stairs have more texture on them.

It looks excellent they weren't lying when they said they wanted it to be the best HD remaster yet!

I feel like a big kid again FFX is the only game in the series I bothered to 100% back when it released on PS2. It's an excellent JRPG and I remember being in awe at the story, the faith, the theme of life and death, the songstress and the temples, the huge world filling enemy Sin, Auron the badass bushido bodyguard...
To Zanarkand -The best intro theme ever, it reels you in at the very start it is practically the first thing you here and at that point you have no idea of the sadness that is unavoidable in coming your way with the epic story.
I finished it once blind then I bought the piggyback guide (which I still have) and played again following it word for word and the amount of extra missable stuff was amazing.
I remember finding the Aeon 'Anima' in his secret cove hidden underwater and being gob smacked by his torturous design and immense power when summoned!
I loved Yojimbo's arrogance and he is my favourite summon in any game ever:

"I am the blade of vengeance. They dare only whisper my name: Yojimbo."

Yojimbo-artwork-ffx.png

I remember paying Yojimbo around 500,000Gil when fighting the final boss and Yojimbo reached out his hand, took the cash and one hit killed the bigger-than-the-screen-final boss with Zanmato!

I remember the game splitting fans right down the middle, some hated it some loved it but to me it was as perfect as a turn based JRPG could be, and now it is going to be even better.

True story:
About 3 months before Vita was even announced I was having a talk with friends and one loved the PSP and was stating how it's the best portable ever yadda yadda and it made me think what game I would most like to be on a handheld. After some thought I came to FFX and made a thread on the FFX PS2 board on GF. Something along the lines of 'If I could have any game on a portable system..'
I was amazed how many people felt the same and the fondness they had for the game and all they wanted was a portable version, not even an updated version but just portability.
I've tried to find the thread using cache sites as the original has gone from GF and I think it's pretty amazing how I wished for something and then shortly after it was announced.

FFX is a very special game and if you like JRPGs and haven't played it give it a go as it's one of the finest examples of the genre and shows Square at their best, imo of course.

X-2 whilst still a great RPG just didn't pack the same punch for me. I again bought it at release, played and finished it and while it was interesting and had one of the best versions of the ATB in the series, it felt like a cash grab to me and the last quarter and final boss felt rushed.
Both the games I bought were the International versions so unless SE is adding anything new then I have seen and done literally 100% of both but I still will be preordering both and can't wait to see perhaps my favourite game of all time in a shiny new suit!
I understand a lot of how I feel is nostalgia, but it happens very rarely in the game business and at the moment I am really happy lol!

Eh, I do own a copy of FFX but more for, um, "general interest". I bought it knowing I was going to laugh at it and I did. I think the story is utter crap but the gameplay is pretty solid if you're in a turn-based mood.

Maybe I'll grab it if it ever gets really cheap (like $10) but otherwise I'll give it a miss.

X-2's International version never made it out of Japan (unlike X where the PAL versions were effectively the International editions) so you may be mistaken thinking you've seen all X-2 has to offer.

What's the current GBAtemp record for most topics spread throughout the forum for the same game/collection?
I don't know... But i think this thread should be the hype thread. It has a lot of info about the games as a whole, and i'll be posting a trailer in this thread in two days time.

I've finished both the PAL and JPN releases of X-2. With the JPN version though I used cheats and played around a lot with the game.
@TC do you want me to edit in Hype Thread to the title?

I've beat FF10 several times, and I don't think I'll beat it again for a while, but I never got into X-2 and this may be a good excuse to give it another try. I don't have a PS3 or Vita though and I have no desire to get one.
I think they could've done more to the remaster though. Wind Waker HD looks better than this.

Just made these two images using the font of Final Fantasy and the images from the trailer.
Did it for no particular reason... i just think this is how the trailer should have shown the logos.
I couldn't write 2013 as the font style has no numbers... T_T
Oh well. Can't be helped.
