It is. Epic Mickey 2, last year's sequel to the Warren Spector headed Epic Mickey, is coming to Sony's latest handheld.

This comes as a bit of a surprise, as the game performed poorly. For reference, the first Epic Mickey (for the Wii exclusively) sold 1.3 million copies, a decent amount to say the least. This game sold half that across 4 different platforms (Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii, and Wii U). The game also garnered a Metascore of 56-64 (depending on platform).

Well, regardless, the game will be hitting Sony's struggling (but recently more upbeat) Vita later this year. Hurray?

Personally I enjoyed the first game quite a bit, nice universe, nice mechanics, and it did feel like a sorta-late 90's platformer. I wouldn't mind trying the sequel but it definitely didn't look as good as the first.

:wtf:

I really don't see why they are porting a sequel that is actually worse than the original (which was kinda OK if you like dated 3D platformers) a platform that no one asked for this game that is practically dead in the West. And yet Disney Infinity, something people seem interested in and is Disney's big title isn't coming to the Vita.

Yeah, it's just all very strange. I could see porting it in hopes of making money back and yeah, I guess the Vita is the only platform that could handle it that doesn't already have it (except, um, the PC) but at this point it seems better to cut your losses.

I mean the Vita has been picking up a bit, I think it was up 60% in the US and 190% in Japan not too long ago but this won't be selling a lot, especially with the already lingering Metascores and still small base for the Vita.

I just posted this news because it's so fucking odd.

>Game sells bad
>Ports it to Vita
Yeah, that's gonna work. That said, since Vita owners have nothing else to play, it might sell.

Maybe they're doing it because there's not as much effort required. If they already released it on several different platforms it's fair to assume that the majority of the code is already platform agnostic, so little more than a few tweaks to the code could make it work on the Vita, rehash all the old marketing material and you might be able to squeeze a bit more cash out of it. Or something.

There was a PC version but they cancelled it. It's odd that they cancelled it when it was pretty much finished and it wouldn't cost much to at least put it on Steam...but whatever none of this makes sense really.

This is the kind of port that can only happen by accident.

Seriously, did they put The Three Stooges in charge of their Vita division?

As much as I like the second game it has some serious faults. Mickey's brother just stands around most of the time or does do what you want/need him to do. Sometimes he even gets stuck or runs away. Always at the worst possible times too.

They should either fix his dam AI or give you the option to switch between him and Mickey in an update. As of right now, you can't get everything in the game w/o a second player. I have only one controller and atm lack anyone who wants to play this game too. Maybe they are making those changes for the vita or at worst porting over the 3ds game!

Woot?
Why not make a new game instead? Like Epic Mickey Vita or something? Something exclusive to the system that might draw more attention to.
Port an already meh game to the system won't help it, I don't think it will completely hurt though, but it just won't do anything to boast either of their sales.
