Homebrew Attention: Looking for Volunteers to Help Tantric with his emulators

I was referring mostly to a standalone SNES9x. For a standalone emulator, it makes more sense. For multicore emulators, its makes less sense. Your last sentence " it is really not something we want to do" is good enough for me. That's all you need to say. A simple "no" is best answer you can give us. Heck you already said in the retroarch thread that you were going to take out all those resolutions anyway and go back to the way it was before (640x480), unless you changed your mind for whatever reason.

And there is no need for a standalone SNES9x in my opinion - neither is there a need for a RetroArch with a fancy GUI - or at least - I will never consider them 'necessary' and so I will never ever go down that road. I have better and more productive stuff to do and Wii/Gamecube is not my only platform.

And BTW - I don't 'owe you' anything - that goes for the 'answers' you receive on questions and that goes for the 'things' you ask me to do. You are not paying me - I don't owe you one damn thing. If I do add something for you, consider it me being nice enough to add something for you (a very vocal minority voice which could be very, very easy for me to ignore otherwise).

I have been very considerate given your requests for these display options (that all centre around some niche '240p video mode' that even Nintendo no longer gives a crap about) - if you had asked maister the same questions, he would have laughed straight in your face - I at least tried to consider it [the auto VI mode changing], but it is really not something we want to do or something that would be 'scaleable' across the various cores we have.

We can lay this to rest, it was a big mess that I know I didn't help make any better, and for that I feel horrible. Not only did I make a jackass outta myself, but caused a developer to quit.

Much better. No frameskipping and Yoshi's Island (and now Star Fox) runs at fullspeed. No input lag ether.

it's been so long since i play those games. so yeah. i'm impressed i'm going have to check those out on my cousin's wii.

I can kind of understand LibretroArc's position. RetroArch is an emulator that focuses on function and compatibility first and foremost, not form and aesthetics, hence the split cores, minimalist GUI, and removal of frameskip, across ALL versions. Most of those features that people have requested (I'm not exactly sure what or how many, I've haven't read nor am I about to read 120+ pages of that thread) really do nothing to improve the core function of what his emulator's meant to do. Which is why he's not doing it. So I can see how frustrating it can be to be bombarded with requests for those kinds of things (as awesome as resolution support is, it's simply an aesthetic), since that isn't what's he's focusing on. Not to mention the people who would disrespect or insult him despite the hard work he's doing (the CC pad issue for example) and everyone makes mistakes. This alone is why I'm so disgusted with the PSP scene, and partially PS3.

I for one think he's done FANTASTIC job on RetroArch (I mainly use the PS3 version) and it is, in my opinion, the BEST console emulator I've ever had the privilege of using. So thank you.

BUT........this thread had nothing to do with Retroarch and then he showed up out of nowhere and went berserk on me - when I haven't even spoke to him in quite some time. Granted he has freedom of choice to drop a pile of his diarrhea in any thread and on anyone he pleases, but he picked the wrong thread and the wrong person to crap on. And now all of a sudden he's turned this thread into a retroarch thread. Sorry, this thread is about someone else's emulators first and foremost.

But we all make mistakes (I've made a billion+) so I will forgive and forget.

fun fact: Squarepusher (LibretroRetroArc) and I almost missed a very serious bug report about corruption and crashing in PAL mode video because it was drowned out by your posts about changing video modes that went on for literally pages

I read the thread from start to finish and it got really bad around post #36, then better, then worse again. I read the OP as a simple notification that Tantric would like to open up some source to interested coders, and it became a flame war.
