Tantric has given me his blessing to ask around for people who are willing to volunteer and contribute to the original source code of his emulators (FCE Ultra GX, SNES9x GX, etc).

He's very busy, and after exchanging a few emails with him, its become clear that the reason for no longer working on his emulators is simply because its too much work for him alone. There are many coders out there that love his emulators and perhaps are not aware that he'd like for them to contribute to the official source so that his emu's don't remain unfinished. He said to me that his ports were never meant to be a "one-man show" and that "it would be nicer if people were to contribute directly to the project". In my honest opinion, I believe that this method is preferable, instead of branching his work and adding to it and putting someone elses name on it (after all, these ports are his work you know).

He told me that he's "happy to give developers access to the Google Code and to help coordinate", so there's a great opportunity here for any of you coder's out there to give him a hand and revive those nice emulators. There's many things on the official builds that still have not been implemented (proper covers+game info on the side of the roms list, bugs that need to be ironed out, a possible port of SNES9x Next 1.52.4, eliminate input lag on SNES9x GX, improved audio/video drivers, etc)

Now your probably thinking to yourself "well why doesn't Tantric post a thread himself"? Because he doesn't think there will be many volunteers, so I figured I'd try and get the ball rolling since he said it would be ok for me to do so. If there are any volunteers, now's the time to speak up.

P.S. I may or may not post here every single day due to other things going on in my life, but I'll still keep the thread going as long as necessary. I know what your thinking, "Your not going to help code?" Well, I would if I knew even the first thing about coding AND had the nerves and skill required to do it without pulling out my hair. All I can do at the moment is seek out volunteers and create a thread. So please take it easy on me.

He doesn't want people branching his work and putting their name on it... but that's what he's doing to SNES9x and FCEU? :P

He said "it would be nicer" if they would contribute directly. He didn't say that he outright doesn't want it to happen. And besides, I'm referring to the "Wii Version", and the Wii version is definitely his work (the GUI, porting code, etc, etc). Are you a coder that's willing to help?

I don't believe its weird to wish for other coders to give him a helping hand. That was what he was hoping for a long, long time ago.........
Oh no no that's not my concern (I like stuff like this and I hope he finds help), I just find it ironic that he doesn't want people sticking their names on continued versions when he's doing it.

Again, he doesn't mind, I just said that I believe its preferable that people help contribute to the original source. I don't see why anyone wouldn't want to.

Awesome. Tantric can probably work with the devs of RetroArch Wii to improve his emulators. I hope something comes from this. Good luck

I haven't worked with emulators before, but I could always have a look at implementing cover art and such.

I just want an updated version without libwiigui ever since they've used libwiigui they've been more about form than function. for example you used to be able to go back to the game list without exiting the currently played game

I have no knowledge to be of help as a coder but as a tester i can do whatever is needed.
A ''marriage'' of Retroarch's SNES core with the SNES9X GX interface and controls would be awesome.

Does Genesis Plus GX use libwiigui? (its GUI is faster and smoother than SNES9x GX gui, that's why I ask)
