Pro Logic II is indeed simulated 5.1 channel (5.1 channel by matrix encoding in Stereo output), and original Wii DO encodes game into Pro Logic II, just like Gamecube. Don't believe me? Go to Dolby website to check it out.

Although I do not own a Wii U, I do have some hands on experience with them. The reason I say it is overpriced at the moment is because little stands out about Wii U against PS3 or Xbox 360.

That doesn't count. That's like me saying, I've never owned a GameGear, but I played 5 minutes of it when my cousin came over with his, so I have some hands on experience with it. That's not enough experience. And obviously little stands out compared to 7 YEAR OLD CONSOLES! But the price is still great if not perfect for a brand new next gen console that's stronger than the PS3/360.

7 year old console or not, PS3 and X360 are its competitor for now.

Wii stands out from its competitor because of the mainstream use of motion control. Gamepad for Wii U on the other hand, does not have that WOW factor (although this has more to do with game developer not making greater use of it). Nintendo is not doing a good job on promoting Wii U. Working at Target, I see people buying Wii because parents don't feel a difference between Wii and Wii U other than price.

The PS3 and 360 aren't its competitor. The Wii was. Going by your logic, the Wii was the competitor with original Xbox and PS2, and the GameCube with the PS1 and... whatever Sega had out. That's like saying that the Xbox 360's competitors were the GameCube and PS2 for a year, which it wasn't. It had no competitor for that year, just like the WiiU doesn't technically have one.

And yeah, I said the marketing for Nintendo was shit, you just agreed with me. But that also doesn't mean that in this day and age, there's no reason why those people can't go on the internet for a quick google search and look it up. Everybody uses the internet and is connected no matter where they go.

Average consumer doesn't care if Wii U is 8th generation or not. Fact is right now Wii U is sitting next to Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 on the shelves. That's what the buyer will see.

True, but even Nintendo is not doing a good job promoting Wii U online. Fact is Nintendo did not coordinate with game developers enough to ensure sufficient number of exclusive title available at launch.

You keep bringing up average consumer, do you have actual sources and proof of this? If not, I might as well be saying "Average consumer knows WiiU is the next generation".

The fact of the matter is, it doesn't matter what the consumer thinks. It's proven, it's a fact, it can't be disputed, WiiU is not competing with PS3 or 360 or Wii. Going by that stupid ass logic, then I can say the 3DS is going up against the original DS lite and PSP because those are still be sold right?

Can't judge the marketing too much. Nintendo doesn't run TV ads in this country and I don't get around to see Internet ads outside the temp ... even then I pretty much don't see them ... so I haven't been exposed much to that. (If that's just because they haven't been advertising ANYWHERE and just hoped to ride on the publicity wave created by E3, shame on you Nintendo.) Heck, here you can't even buy one at Walmart. Maybe it's because piracy is so rampant here but Walmart's video game selection is tiny. Here you have to go to a gaming store to get one.

The sales weren't BAD either. I'd say Nintendo just put their hopes high because of so many core gamers preordering. Preorders all but sold out and they thought the normal sales would, too. As OP said, just because it's not INCREDIBLE, doesn't mean it's bad.

Anyway, as for the price comparison on OP, if you want to put a price on the ability to play without the TV, maybe you could throw the price of a small TV set up there. That's what you'd need to get a similar experience with anything else. If you know the price of a battery powered one and a simple wireless video connection you could add that on to make it even more accurate. ;)

Bad marketing huh? And a lack of games, you say? I guess the 3.2 million sales came outta Nintendo's rectum, just like your comments.

Nintendo doesn't market well, and no most games are already for 360 and PS3.I'm surprised it passed the Vita's sales in just a few months,or I'm surprised that the Vita is selling like shit.

Semantic nonsense. I guess the same could apply to the Vita, oh wait, no it doesn't. Saying the system doesn't have any worthwhile games is still dissing it. If I wanted an a good argument, I'd rather go to the argument clinic:

Xbox, WTF does the X in Xbox mean?

Wonderswan? WTF does that have to do with games? It was neither wonderful, nor was it a swan.

Was that so hard?

Not sure about Wonderswan, but pretty sure everyone knew that the Xbox was because it was essentially a computer focused on computer games, it was a (Direct) X Box.

Anyone have any lines on good deals for wii u in the USA?

Best I can seem to find is regular price at Target where I can save 5% purchasing with red card and receive a $25 target gift card.

They definitely could do MUCH better marketing wise. I have only seen a demo station at Walmart, and it ONLY has videos, and NO demos, and Walmart had nothing to do with the content that is on the device. I figured they would at BARE MINIMUM have displays put up at Best Buy and Game Stop just like the other systems and put some demos on it so you can see how the system actually plays. If anything they could have side by side comparison videos comparing the difference of play style, graphics and such between the two systems.

I certainly agree with the OP that poor marketing really, really did a disservice and really, really harmed sales--at some point they're going to have to reboot it (the marketing) completely, so it'll be interesting to see how they handle that.

Yes it is the same thing at Target, videos only and no playable demos. This is the most asinine thing ever. They should have playable multiplayer demo and I think that would sell systems. A couple of people sitting there playing it having a blast would cause people to take notice. From talking to people who have seen the kiosk they see nothing compelling...the gamepad really doesn't make any sense as it's just a thing there to launch demo videow and the demos don't really show the graphics to be much better than the Wii (I know they are but I had a hard time convincing my sister). I actually still have not even played the Wii U and my neighbour who has one says he doesn't even play his. I still want to get one very soon but the lack of killer games is making it easy to wait.
