Sorry for the boring instructions. I successfully managed to go from kmeaw 3.55 to Rogero 4.30 v2.05 and decided to post my log for anyone interested.

Mods, please don't combine posts. I'd like to keep this reply for future updates. kpl0xthnx

Should also note that I did not include instruction for updating multiMAN before-hand and completely overlooked making a Nand/NOR dump using multiMAN.

Might elaborate on PS3 USB hierarchy structure to include VIDEOS, MUSIC, etc.

Opted for font color change vs italicizing because italics didn't show up on my NoteII while browsing with Chrome. Also, "big file" and "small file" steps are place holder for if and when I can link URLs.

**EJECT ANY DISC BEFORE ATTEMPTING** <--gotta work this is in somewhere

FBANext no longer working; not sure if not compatible, needs updating, or permissions. Other emulators not working from multiMAN. Retroarch is downloadable from mM, but not working for me.

Found compatible emulators for NES, SNES, Genesis, and GBA. FBAlphaRLNext1.01 works fine; even better after 1.01a updated. Apparently the 4.30 version is signed for 3.40 and 4.30.

Seriously considering adding a poll to find out what FW Tempers are on (if less than CFW 4.xx and considering updating) or what FW they were on previous to updating to any CFW 4.xx.

Poll completed. Didn't add Waninkoko CFW and "other" option.

March 20, 2013--OFW 4.40 Released
As expected, Sony released a new firmware that blocks PSN access. Used Rebug's stand-alone 4.40 spoofer released a few short days later.

April 18, 2013--Rogero CFW vs Rebug CFW
Awaiting arrival of downgraded phat PS so as to upgrade to current Rebug CFW. Will update slim PS3 to current Rogero CFW and compare. Phat PS3 arrived with Rogero 4.40 v1.03; rather than downgrade to 3.55 and install Rebug 4.30, opted to update slim from Rogero 4.30 to Rebug 4.30 as no downgrading would be required. Left Phat on Rogero to provide comparisons as time goes on.

April 24, 2013--OFW 4.41 Released
As expected, Sony released a new firmware that blocks PSN access. Used Rebug's stand-alone 4.41 spoofer released a a few short days later.

Yeah about a month ago maybe more. I hardly play on my PS3 tho just plain old lack of interest.

Edit: you should take it a step further and get all the files needed to do this up on FileTemp. For some reason I had a hell of a time finding the toggle_qa file.

I'll play a game for a few days and either get side tracked by work, other hobbies, or family stuff and never go back to finish it up. There are a few Ps3 games I'd like to play but RL shit always gets in the way and I like playing with my 6 year old son on Wii/Wii U and 3ds more these days anyway.

The files aren't hard to find. I'll gladly take this a "step further" if no one else is though.

Did you have to be on Rogero 3.55 before Rogero 4.30? I would think 3.55, OFW or CFW, is enough for the jump once QA is flagged.

I went from 3.55 OFW to Rebug 4.30.1

I believe you're correct, but I can't be certain. I may go back and italicize optional steps, add steps that I forgot and prepend for anyone on anything lower than 3.55. It's more of a log now than a formal tutorial.

Well you don't technically need to have it. It makes it easier to downgrade back to 3.55 if would ever need to from what I've read anyways.

You should. Just upload them to file Filetrip and then link to them in the guide.

I wish I could say that I know how to, but I don't. And even if I managed to figure it out, I don't know if it's "kosher" to do so. The "toggle_qa.pkg" file is only 96,480 bytes so it wouldn't take long to upload or download; nor would it bog down Filetrip's servers. I can't say I know for a fact that it doesn't violate the Temp's ToS. It's more than likely signed code as it runs on 3.55, but I don't know.

I thought about a guide like that to explain which steps I did when updating my PS3, but didn't have time to update it yet.
Thanks for doing it.

I'm currently in 3.41 and plan to update to buy new games.
I guess I need to update to either Rogero3.55, rebug3.55 or Kmeaw3.55 first to be able to set the QAFlag. Then I can follow your steps "B" to update to rogero 4.30

• You are missing steps:
1)
A-5 = installing 3.41
B = updating from 3.55 to 4.30, but nowhere you explain the update from 3.41 to Kmeaw 3.55

"B" should be 3.41 to Kmeaw 3.55 and "C" should be 3.55 to 4.30?

3.40 -> 3.41 -> Kmeaw/Rogero/Rebug 3.55 -> QAFlag -> (dehash/update multiMAN/NAND dump) -> Rogero 4.30

2)
after B-1-e: You install the QAFlag package, but once it's installed it should appear as an icon on XMB, right? You don't need to launch it once before doing the button combo?

• Few things to add maybe?

1) on 3.41 and 3.55 you needed to patch and resign your games requiring firmware 3.56+
After upgrading to Rogero 4.30, the patches won't work anymore. You need to unpatch or redump your game disc.

In the same way, all old homebrew for 3.41/3.55 will not work anymore on 4.30 :(
I've read you need to sign them for 4.25+ (I don't know how)
edit: found how to sign CFW Eboot & PKG resigner, or with TrueAncestor SELF Resigner.

2) Install/update MultiMAN (or a pkg manager) before installing Rogero4.30?
I read that 4.30 doesn't have the pkg installer menu anymore, so you need to install a homebrew capable of installing pkg first.

Edit: multiMAN 4.20.0 doesn't work on 3.41 anymore.
It requires 3.55 CEX/DEX. (*Supports only 3.55 CEX/DEX, 4.21 CEX/DEX, 4.30 CEX, 4.31 CEX)
So, first update to 3.55 then update multiMAN (or update to 4.19.07 if you are still on 3.41) (which base does update 07 requires? I didn't find any 4.19.00 base. Is 4.18.00 base fine?)
multiMAN 5.x will work only on 4.30+

3)
I've also read (on PS3devwiki) that creating a nand dump with multiMAN doesn't fully dump the NAND due to obfuscation of the first sectors of the NAND/NOR. you need to unhide it first and rehide it after the dump. I'm wondering if dumping it with hidden sector (making an under-dump) is fine to restore at a later date without modifying the hidden part (which may have changed).
validating NAND/NOR before upgrading is a good idea, having a bad dump won't help you later to unbrick your console.

4)
Installing the QAFlag has downsides that many guides don't tell:
It's deleting the act.dat file which is used for PSN authentication. you need to backup your existing file and use a homebrew to actually restore it each time you want to launch PSN games you bought or else they will require validating (or maybe using reActPSN?)

Well, I don't have this problem, I don't have PSN account so there's no act.dat on my console ;)

5)
missing info for you:
3.41 v1 = buggy, do not use.
3.41 v2 = 167MB (175 193 760 bytes)
md5 = e07d2b84c9e9691c261b73e5f1aada20
sha1 = e7f522ba85c8fc780b8bcbaff6c70d36487e2e45
(all md5)

About the links:
You can link homebrew, tools, but not firmwares nor keys.

Launch the icon. PS3 will reboot. Then do the combination.

I did download a PS3 game claimed to be resigned for 3.55, but it works fine with Rebug 4.30. I don't know if MM resigned it automatically.

2) Install/update MultiMAN (or a pkg manager) before installing Rogero4.30?
I read that 4.30 doesn't have the pkg installer menu anymore, so you need to install a homebrew capable of installing pkg first.
Not true, both Rogero and Rebug have package manager (Rogero called it a toolbox?)

Never heard of this problem. My PS3 is QA flagged and I downloaded couple legit PSN games/DLC and it activated just fine. There is no second activation.

Whilst I've read in several places about the act.dat problem, I've yet to try it.
As I've said in other threads, I'm still cautious about using PSN/online features/DLC because there aren't enough people confirming if it's "safe" or not. On the other hand, I still hear people are getting banned even with Rogero 4.30.5 (although that's probably because they were cheating in online FPS titles...).
