The Deus Ex franchise has had a long and storied history. Its most recent installment, Human Revolution, was definitely a success. On the whole, the game received a lot of praise and sold pretty well. A followup of some sort was inevitable; there was no chance of the series going Deus Extinct.

Well, it looks like it's finally begun to take shape.
It looks like there may be something on the horizon: some sleuthing has turned up a recently filed trademark for the name "Deus Ex: Human Defiance".

The European trademark record, which was filed on February 26 by Square Enix, lists a number of classifications that include references to "computer games software", "video games and games for mobile phones", "printed matter", "books" and "online computer game services". Ausgamers verified the filing as genuine, identifying that the trademark was filed by the same firm that applied for Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

I didn't ask for this... but I'll gladly take it!

Now, we don't know exactly what this is, so speculation runs rampant. Some say DE:HR Wii U port, others claim it's a DE HD remake, while others believe it's a full blown sequel. We don't have much to go on, so it's anyone's guess at this point.

Personally, I'd definitely be up for the sequel. Human Revolution had some minor flaws and rough patches, but I definitely enjoyed it. A sequel that polishes everything up (and maybe takes Deus Ex into the next generation) could be fantastic.

TL;DR:

Of all the options you go with "Deus Extinct"- "following the last title, human revolution, it would hardly be the case that the series needed a reprieve from a god". Normally I would not take you to task but when the name is wordplay and you have otherwise pulled off double puns ( http://gbatemp.net/threads/9-months...ine-will-have-a-f2p-baby.340839/#post-4512780 ) I kind of expect a bit more.

Naturally yay Deus Ex, at times I have even grown to like the invisible war game though so I might not be the best source to look to on this matter. I do still have to read the book though.

I apologize if it was lacking.

I've been meaning to make a "Deus Ex: Humanistic Revolution" joke about the Reformation, but sadly, it's a topic that just doesn't seem to come up much here. For the life of me, I can't figure out why.

I've not played the latest in the series, was kind of hesitant, but will certainly get to it.

On the other hand I have played the first two games in the series and still count Deus Ex (well anything from Warren Spector) as one of the highlights in my video game experience.

Now that Square has secured rights to it, I'm only growing curiouser and curiouser!

I want a sequel, I really do but it just sounds like a iOS title.

I really doubt that it's a Wii U port of the first game, "Human Defiance" doesn't quite fit with it.

I did enjoy Deus Ex: HR but it was definitely flawed. I feel a sequel could iron out the kinks and make it a really strong ARPG.

AKA take out the bosses or make them designed for all playstyles and the game would be better. Maybe make the world larger as well, add more sidequests, standard sequel stuff.

Am I the only one that honestly misread it as: "Deus Ex: Human Defecation", and seriously thought there was actually going to be a game about fecal matter?

Great games, though the first one is still probably the best out of the three. Thank god Invisible War didn't kill the franchise (admit it, it's not near the level of the first and third games).

I'd prefer a new game since the original Deus Ex can be made to look quite good with HD textures. Sure the gameplay could be updated to go along the lines of DE:HR, but I think the original Deus Ex gameplay still works quite well..

Sorry for the bump, but I figured this was better here than elsewhere...

So, "Human Defiance" turned out to be related to the Deus Ex film currently in development. However, it seems that Square Enix has been registering a new title - Deus Ex: The Fall.

Personally, I'm more of a summer type of guy, but that's just me. Still, I can't say I'm not intrigued. Thoughts?
