Here we go again.. Where have I seen this before?

What I don't see happening is companies like Rovio letting their main franchise (Angry Birds & Co.) not appear on a new gaming device. It seems that the main focus for every news agency is to prove that the largest gaming console makers don't have third party support (not counting multiple function devices like mobile phones in this case). Where do all the games come out if not those companies? :glare:

I honestly don't care about developers leaving or coming on board, what I would love to know is how some one can make that kind of mistake? I mean a couple of mistakes like "Oh they where developing a PS3 game not a PS4 game? Ooops... lol" but 23 that's almost enough of a difference to say it wasn't a mistake.

Of course it only takes a couple of developers to make some block buster hits to make a console worth owning so the number of developers is a non thing for me.

(Going to do a lot of guessing here so bear with me). I'm not sure if it was a mistake per se, since the devs may be making a game for the console. They just may not want it to be official if the game doesn't meet their standards. Also the list could just as well include devs that have the PS4 devkit.

As always, I'll just wait and see what games we'll see on the console after launch. I've yet to see a console this or last generation that actually had a fantastic launch lineup and was a must-buy from day 1. If the console has enough games after a year or two to warrant a purchase, I'll gladly think about purchasing the console. If the price is right (read: good offer), I'll get it sooner than later. Otherwise I'll just wait..

Probably sound reasoning for the difference. I have seen a lot of youtube video's of near complete unfinished games for a lot of systems.

Like the PS3 it'll have a slow build up, people will write it off as a failure and then slowly the hardware sales will meet whatever MS releases (the same console that many people had to replace a few times due to hardware failures), it'll have the better exclusives and people will shut up about it and just enjoy playing video games. Meanwhile all of a sudden the Wii U turns out to be one hell of a beast and has the best games ever for a Nintendo console*

it is the XBox 360 who's famous for its hardwire failures who makes the power button glow red instead of its usual green and when it turns red, your console has what's called the Red Ring of Death and you know at that moment that it died on you. *sigh* if I were MS, I would have learned from the NES' Blinking Lights of Doom.

wtf... idonteven...

ontopic:
It's still a pretty solid list of devs. I won't be buying one, but I have no fears that it will fail...

But the NES's Blinking Lights of Doom was caused by contact problems usually because of dirt, unlike the 360's Red Ring of Death which is caused by overheating.

Though heat does not help I usually placed it at the feet of BGA (ball grid array), a poorly supported motherboard (with the items in question being in almost the worst place possible) and the creep failure method of metals rather than straight overheating.
That said BGA failure, especially as lead is the boogeyman nowadays, has taken up third spot on my list of electrical failures (sitting shortly behind switch and capacitor failure) and if we are playing fun and games was also responsible for the PS3 YLOD.

Back on topic eh... I have not seen anything that would cause a mass exodus of devs. Also a few Japanese devs aside most people usually went for the PS360 anyway so all is good. That said it is news and I thank the OP for sharing.

Notable omissions from the list now include the aforementioned Mojang and Vlambeer, as well as Angry Birds studio Rovio, and Trine developer Frozenbyte. In their place, numerous new names have appeared including Splash Damage, Codemasters, Hello Games, 2K Games, and Sumo Digital.
2K Games instead of Mojang?
Code Masters instead of Rovio?
Splash Damage instead of Frozenbyte?

...wait, this was supposed to be bad news?

I didn't take the news like some have that "Sony is losing dev's!!!" at worst you could claim that Sony tried to inflate some numbers (Marketing wouldn't be marketing if they didn't.) but I agree with one of the posters that some of the dev's might actually have stuff in the oven just not finished yet or sometimes just to check out the hardware. They might not want to be on the hook to the entire Internet if they say "Hey we are working on some PS4 game!" and it never happens. I can't blame them if they have even the slightest doubts about releasing.
