I bought a few R4 Revolution for DS cards for backups for family (after Mario and Sonic was destroyed in the washing machine, the $10 price for the R4 backup unit seemed like a no brainer).

I've only ever used DSTwo before, so I'm not sure how to set this up. I know that all I need to do is drag and drop firmware into the root of the memory card, but I don't know which firmware. I've heard that the only way to get Pokémon Black/White 2 to work is to use Wood. This is the one I bought this time for family to backup their DS/Lite collection (these won't ever be used on a DSi).

R4's dont get firmware updates, hence why they dont work on Dsi/3DS but that isnt an issue as your only using on DSLite/DSPhats

Wood is a Kernel, Kernels load games and affect compatibility with games
so as long as your card is a genuine card supported by wood you should be good :D
you just extract it to the root of the SD card and you should be good to go

If you have the exact same card as pictured at the link below then yes you can run Wood R4 on it:

Kernel download:

To setup, extract the download and copy the system folder and files onto the root of the microSD. You can put the games anywhere on the card although on the root is recommended or you can create more folders and categorize them.

Cheers, this is exactly what I needed to know :) I'd always played it safe with the DSTwo, but they are just too expensive to buy a handful of.
