Is it me or did the 3DS clubbers get the shaft this month? Birds and Beans (100c) and Metal Torrent (150c)? Yuck. Think I'll pass 'til next month. The Wii, however, got two nice'uns: Paper Mario (200c) and Kirby Super Star (150c).

I'm pretty sure they had Birds and Beans as a Coin reward only a few months ago! Like, November or something. I thought that was pretty silly!

Ah well, who can complain that much when it's a (kind of, in a sense) free game?

Europe does get screwed on certain releases by way of delays, etc..But didn't parts of Europe get a free 3DS game with an XL purchase? That's like $45 right there :D

Not really, the game was free, sure... But those who had a normal 3DS got screwed over by both sides because of that. They could've offered the same promotion for someone buying a normal 3DS.

Indeed, free is always good. It is kind of annoying though when, as you say, they recycle shovelware offerings. Metal Torrent was just offered in April 2012 too.

Did Europe get that amazing "If you bought certain games you get a chance to get a free limited edition 3DS" which everyone and their mothers won? :D

Yeah, seems like a lot of people in the forums won it, from what they said... But most never took pics. z.z

It's quite a shame though, that contest only accepted the games if people had bought it within the time frame (well, more like insert the codes within the time frame), people like me that had bought the games when they came out, couldn't participate, unless they bought the game again (one was dead or alive, nintendogs and I think the other was mario kart... I'm not sure about it though, besides Nintendogs).

Yeah, Europe Club Nintendo sucks. It's done nothing for me so far - just taken a load of points away from me a few years ago due to them 'expiring' (as if virtual points expire :glare: ). I bought a 3DS after all the ambassador promotions and the 'win a free 3DS' competition and then received no free £35 game as I didn't buy the XL. I'd honestly pay double whatever you guys are paying in points in order to be able to download a game - I have loads of stars now, especially thanks to Eerpow and I'm sitting on them waiting for something to appear in the eShop.

(I'm hoping it may change soon though due to the very recent revamp of the website and transition of 'points' to 'stars' or w/e. Also, there's a category in the catalogue for 'Online Items' which sounds promising.)

My point still stands.

Offering pretty lame games, and then recycling them. Praise Nintendo!

Of course the games being lame is my opinion. They got me to try Metal Torrent at least. And they really aren't all that free. In order to get them you must buy games (Well if you were planning on buying them anyway this one's a freebie.), and then answer a series of surveys Nintendo lays out for some statics. "Is that really all that much?" No it isn't but still things we have to do to get "free" games. Wonder how much time, and resource Nintendo's saving by making users answer a survey in order to get points instead of doing it by the same means other companies do.

EDIT: But hey. Everyone thinks differently. Person A could go the whole "Nintendo doesn't have to do this thing. Person B could go the "Boo Nintendo for not doing what I want", or C who is indifferent.

I'm not being offered a free game that I seriously like? How terrible!

I can see your point, but the right to criticize shouldn't have to be bought with money. Nintendo has always tried to do the 'Disney Vault' type stuff with their games. It annoys customers and has hurt their online presence and will continue to until they shut up and take our money. Nintendo has always been one of the weakest digital storekeepers out there and stuff like this 'free' shovelware trash isn't helping.

Great point about the surveys. That data IS valuable to them, there's no doubt about it.

Birds & Beans isn't that bad, but it is one of the oldest DSi games out there. It was 2 bucks back then, and I think I got it back when Nintendo game 10 bucks worth of points to anyone who bought a DSi before a certain date.

I understand that they can't offer great games all the time, but at least they offered something. If you're that interested in it, I'd say spend the 2 bucks and save your coins for something better.
