According to the source, It indicates that the console ban in China might lift.

They were banned a while ago because, they were concerned about how it can cause potential harm to the physical and mental development of children. The console ban was set 13 years ago (2000). The 7 Chinese ministries said that they would need an agree to end this ban.

---
The good thing is, that not everything was banned. In China, devices are still available to interact, with. Also, there are many consoles in China that are not banned. I say this ban is meaningless.

Reports from Sony & Nintendo has not approached yet.

Who cares? Why do I need a Wii in China when I could just get a Vii?

It's practically the same thing.

It's amusing that they have no problem with allowing PC games but console games are somehow degrading the intelligence of their children. Even more hilarious is how many console clones come out of China every day.

I see no flaw in their logic.

Actually most consoles have been sold in China in one way or another. For example the Kinect (and thus the 360) is considered as health equipment that could just as well be like any other gym apparatus in terms of the law. The ban being lifted would make it possible to sell the consoles with ads about their original purpose..

Let's be honest, even China has been pretty lenient and not been enforcing the law. Hell, if they were, Nintendo wouldn't have been able to bring the iQue there.

Consoles aren't the cause for potential physical and mental harm. It's tvs in general. Kids at a really young age shouldn't even be watching tvs. It's also most likely the parents fault if there's any health problems.
