New Twitter virus spreading

I didnt know where else to post this but there is a new twitter virus spreading around and i felt i needed to warn the temp about it coz im sure a fair few of you use it.

People will send you a Direct message saying something like "is this you/ found a funny pic of you" something very simular to that and it will have a link that it wants you to click. Do NOT click the link, it will cause your account to be infected and will begin sending the same spam message out to other people who follow you.

According to google, to get rid of the virus, change your password immediately if you think you have been infected and goto your twitter settings and check your applications and "revoke access" of anything you think is suspicious or anything new that you dont know about and also warn others about this.

I have been posting a message saying "A new twitter virus is spreading around with people sending DM's with a link saying something like "This is you/ pic of you" Dont click it." I suggest you do the same.

I never get any DM's, hell I only have 14 followers, and I'm sure 9 of them are bots. I never clicked those links or anything in the first place.. mainly because I know nobody has a funny picture of me as I don't take pictures or get my pictures taken

It's not a virus, it's phishing. The link is to a fake twitter site, and people are simply not checking the URL before giving it their name and password manually by typing it in.

Ah ok, well i didnt exsactly know how it worked, i just got 2 of these when i woke up and i assumed it was one of thise "instant click, pc infected" viruses. Google says its been around for a while but iv never had anything like this before. Just giving people a heads up just incase it's making a comeback and people dont know about it.
