It kinda feels like an end of an era seeing THQ go this way. They've gone from being a publisher who I absolutely hated to bits for their terrible licensed titles on Nintendo platforms, to being a notable publisher who tried to put quality over quantity. They even cancelled a lucrative Avengers game.
Today a auction was held for it's licenses and studios and here are the results.
Ubisoft now has the rights to South Park and THQ Montreal. Oddly enough they have Patrice Desilets who worked on Assasin's Creed & Prince of Persia Sands of Time for Ubi.
Crytek now owns the Homefront series.
Koch Media have Volitian (Red Faction, Saints Row) & the Metro series.
Sega have Relic (Company of Heroes, Warhammer & Homeworld)
Take Two have now got Evolve.
Sadly there will be lay-offs at Vigil who did the Darksiders series.
No news of who has the rights to Saints Row, Darksiders etc at this moment. There is a rumour going around that Take 2 have bought the rights to Darksiders but didn't want Vigil. Also a rumour is going around that EA has the lucrative WWE series.
