I don't like the idea of shortening in the first place. Atm I'm working a rebuilder of the file format, so we can expand the length of items to our desired length without facing blackscreens.

you can extend text... just move the last value as long as there's an empty byte (00).

Yeah I know. I was talking about extending in areas where you don't have 0s, so extending over the maximum of 0s without overriding existing values.

There is a ripper for pmf I forgot how it was called though.

If only we could extract those BIN files (text) on common.pac and rebuild them... most probably decode/decompress it and viceversa.

Working on it. Trying to understand quickbms. it is pretty convenient. Just never used it before. But I figured out the stuff it needs. now I have to figure out how to process it into code.
once that is done, quickbms can rebuild files too. so this shouldn't be an issue.

thats good.... it really helps... so that we don't have to worry about those switches & text padding.

Extracting test of files in common.pac

Filesize, check
Offsets, check
Working on filenames+folders+reinsertion.
But not bad so far...

Aw, forget it, the problem is fixed.
So, since i DON'T KNOW how to patch a game, can someone explain me how to do it?

sooo it seems u made a bms(logically) file that would extraxt the pac files with ARC header (well with the noob logic so if i am way too off srt) soooo will you u share this marvelous tool with the mortal ones in this site one day? or will you keep it all for yourshelf? Yes I will but it isn't working yet the way I want. It extracts but without filenames and folders because I just started writing the script.

download the old beta it has a program but make sure you make a backup of your file
you can also use UMDgen

The old beta? But the new isn't the one that fix the black screen problem? I'm having this at the moment
I've downloaded the new beta, but i don't know how to apply this to the game
