I believe the ds has some online games and I think four swords came out for the dsi. I know that the 3ds got it a while back but now it's not available for free anymore. If I were to load the four swords rom using the flashcart could i still play online or even with other 3ds owners? Thanks I'm new here so I tried searching but couldn't find much.
No, DSTwo initiates games using DS mode, meaning that you running four swords on DSi mode or 3DS mode is impossible, the four swords game was written for GBC and 3DS library, meaning that unless you run and controll either bootloaders of those two you can't run the ROM itself, there is a GBC emulator for the 3DS by using DSTwo's DS mode, however it won't give you online connectivity unless a kind of port was written to the WiFi chip to the GBC\A connectivity virtual cable, it's nearly impossible since those connection require a lot of stability, something WiFi connections (and even NiFi) fails to do at such level

Using a Flashcard runs in DS = only allows router connection to WEP security
Using a official cart or E-shop purchased version = allowing you to use the Newer Internet chip and settings allowing for more security features

Was four swords released just as a ds game? I'm fine without playing it online now, but I still want to play but I never had a ds so I don't know if dsiware is a ds eshop title or just a dsi game?
I bought a copy for the gamecube but I'd like to play it again on my 3ds using this flashcart, Is there a rom available for it on the ds, or is the gba rom the only one available? I'm really liking the community so far, thank you guys for answering my questions!
Four Swords is not on the gamecube. Four Swords Adventures is.
There is a GBA rom you can play on a DSTwo or a DSiware version I think you can find in the eShop.
I looked on the 3ds eshop but I couldn't find it. Oh well, i'll just try to find the dsi rom, but I need to reread the first post again as i'm confused regarding the differences between ds games and dsiware... And I think four swords comes included in the alttp rom? But then again it was only multiplayer so I think i'll just forget about it. It's already too much of a hassle, and I would have enjoyed to have gotten it for free or I'd be willing to pay for it but nintendo just removed it from the 3ds eshop and I just got mine on christmas. So that makes no sense, it's quite a stupid move by nintendo if you ask me.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, I just brought a R4i card and can't play pokemon black 2 online on my 3ds xl.
I get an error message of 51099 when trying to connect using the c-gear. I can play normal 3ds games fine over my home network so a bit confused by this. Any help would be massively appreciated.

Which R4i card?
Most R4i clones have problems with it.
I think you need to patch the game or something.
I didn't had problems with R4ids.cn card.
EDIT:And yeah that what pong said, DS games are only compatible with WEP protection.
