Gaming Getting a Vita with my Christmas money...

It has a 94 Metascore last time I checked and is the highest rated handheld game of all time.

So factually it is a better game than Xenoblade and the best handheld game ever made.
OOT 3D has a 94 metascore as well. And TWEWY tops that with a 95 metascore. And I know how much you fervently hate those games so don't cry.

This is a discussion forum, if people want to discuss Xenoblade, let them be. Just don't get involved in the discussion.

But it's the fucking Vita forum. Leave Xenoblade elsewhere. It feels like it's brought into every thread nowadays.

Drop it.
It's like the very mention of the game makes you seethe with rage. If you read the context of the posts where it was mentioned, it wasn't just wankery. So chill out. I don't get mad every time someone brings up a game I dislike.

and it ain't my fault if most of the forum just adores the game, anyways.

It's not Xenoblade that's the problem here, it's that it's off topic. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see that.

I'm starting to see that I'm not the problem on why these threads go to shit.
I only brought it up as a come-back to the "overrated" comment, I had no intention of carrying on talking about it... just so you know. :P

Honestly though, yeah, PSVita games. Nobody mentioned BlazBlue yet, there's also Ninja Gaiden: Sigma Plus which is arguably better than its home console counterpart.

Either way it got carried on with and I think it should just stop. It's not related to this thread at all and it's just another pissing match ruining someone's thread where all they want is genuine feedback and answers.

How could it be better if it runs at 30FPS, has shoddy visuals, no leaderboards...?
30 FPS isn't all that bad - that's for starters. Visuals look perfectly fine. Leaderboards aren't all that essential to people who just want to enjoy their game. On the other end of the scale you have improved combat mechanics, new weapons and other additional content.

Wut. 30FPS is not bad at all, and we're moping about that? :(
In my opinion, smooth and stable 30FPS is better than framerate jumps - fluctuating framerate is noticable and it's straining the eyes, stable framerate looks fine. The average movie is filmed at 25FPS and nobody seems to be bothered.

30FPS is bad for an action game like this and a port that you claim is superior to console versions. The visuals don't even come close to the PS3 version. This is easily the worse version of the game.

Improved combat, additional content, comfortable controls > "Worse" graphics (compared to a home console), slower framerate.

To me it's simple as that. Besides, let's not argue here - it's a suggestions thread.

Alright, I went out and bought it. I went about 50 dollars over what I'd intended, but I like how it turned out.
Tales from Space Mutant Blobs Attack is a short and fun platformer but you might own it on the PC. It also cheaper on PC but the Vita version integrates some of the Vita's features well.
You should try Silent Hill Book of Memories and Ragnarok Odyssey possibly. They get repetitive but both are fairly good games. You should definitely try the demos first though.
Disgaea 3 is a great SRPG but if you get PS+ you will get Final Fantasy Tactics which I consider to be better in almost all aspects except replay value.
Can you give a breakdown of what you bought with your money?

Another suggestion is Wipeout 2048. I've been playing that recently and it's pretty good.

Improved combat? You mean how Ryu's reverse wind jump now homes on dead bodies,
Enhancements? You mean the new accessories that break the game by making you ridiculously OP.
Comfortable controls? You mean the mandatory gyro aiming for bow controls.

No matter how you slice it, this is not the definitive version of the game. The frame-rate, shitty enhancements and stuff removed from the game make sure of this.

Film is at 24FPS, not 25 technically.

FPS really isn't a huge issue provided it's stable, it just improves the quality of animation. You really won't tell the difference that much, just so long as it's stable.

People just jerk off at 60FPS because it's a nice thing to put on the box. 60FPS is nice but really isn't make or break.

I haven't played NGS+ but I'm sure the console versions are better, as is the case with most console-to-handheld ports and versions.

Movies at 24FPS are fine because of motion-blur. Motion-blur everywhere.

Here's a quote regarding framerate in films,

The goal of motion pictures is not to recreate reality, it's not even to show reality. I want to create a little psychic link between you and my pictures. I want to suck you into the world of the story, suspend your disbelief and make you forget about yourself and your life and just be in the moment of the film.
By not showing enough visual information, we force the brain into filling in the gaps... it draws you in even more. It's part of how you let go to the point where you can laugh or cry or feel tense or afraid or elated.

You honestly can't tell the difference?

When it comes to fighting, action, racing games, 60FPS does matter. 30FPS is playable but it just doesn't compare. When I play games like Sonic Generations or Most Wanted on my PC at 60FPS, there is a clear difference from the 30FPS console versions. It's just better.

I have to agree with this. Thanks to a Java applet I accidentally found out my monitor was running at 40Hz all this time. I set it to 60 and suddenly the mouse motions are so smoooth.

Keep it up guys, I'm really enjoying the cool info. Just drop the Xenoblade subject. Guild has his tastes and we have ours and there's nothing to begrudge him about. He's been really helpful this entire time. ;)
