Virtuous Flame, a developer behind the popular OpenCMA project released a preview video of his upcoming eCFW called ARK which will be the first to compete with Total Noob's eCFW. It brings some advantages over TN-C, details are quite scarce at this point. No release date has been annouced, but we already know that this eCFW works fine on the 2.02 PSVita firmware, which is incentive enough to be excited about it. Additionally, sources close to the PRO Team state that this firmware may be based on Coldbird's work which was leaked in an encrypted form a few months ago.

I hope the exploit doesn't come out soon. Don't have enough PSN cash to get whatever the exploited game will be this time. :(

You and me both. I'm especially interested in this one since the nature of the game used allows for booting straight into the eCFW rather than going throught menus to load the save file, which is a big time saver and just "looks better".

Why are people so eager about these PS Vita hacks? They are terribly unhandy, limited and will be patched in no time. Get a PSP if you want hax and use your vita for vita games.

Personally I'm treasuring this Vita like the Ark of the Covenant and I won't hack it. Ever.

EDIT: And I'm part of the #pspgomasterrace if I want to do PSP shenanigans. Only game I can't play well on my Go is Dissidia 012 which I bought for the Vita anyway.

I have both, thing is, there's no harm in having eCFW on the Vita. Dual analog, son. It's not a matter of life and death to me, it's just something nice to have.

PSP games don't support the second analog stick, do they?
You can map anything to the second analog, including the PSP's D-Pad, which fixes camera control problems with many games. That, and you can use Bilinear Filtering to experience less jaggies. It's generally fun to use, just a chore to install. eCFW (or missing out on it) is not a deal breaker, but it's an interesting hack none the less.

Really though the only games that benefit from that second analog are pretty much not on the store right now. I think Resistance: Retribution was added recently but (as soulx will so proudly point out), no Peace Walker. Or Syphon Filter, Coded Arms, etc.

eCFW = PSP ISO loading, son. They don't have to be on the store. ;)

Still, the exploits are patched pretty quickly and I'm being extra paranoid about my Vita this time around. I wouldn't bother.
Pretty sure that PSP Mode is sandboxed to the point where it doesn't "report" anything to Sony - otherwise we would've seen bans already. It cannot brick your console - it's working within the sandbox. There's literally no risk in it... :P

But hey - I can see why you'd want your Vita to be a virgin.

Well I don't fear anything on Sony's end, it's just human error. Also I found that my hacked consoles, especially when they're connected as they are today, feel so out of the loop. You have to wait for cracks and you get some neat features but miss out on official support for most things.

That's just me though.

Yeah, it always ends up that way. I'm in two minds - on one hand, I really want to continue my PSPlus subscription and reap the benefits of OFW, on the other, I'd love to work on some homebrew for the PSVita when the Vita Mode loaders/CFW's see the light of day... It's a big issue since the Vita is easily the most expensive system I own at the moment, and I can't have both unless I literally have two Vita's...

Even if you remap the D-Pad buttons to the second analog stick, the controls would still be digital if you know what I mean.
I can use them with two thumbs rather than switch, losing precious miliseconds againts the Metal Gear or the Tigrex, if you know what I mean. ;) Camera control with the D-Pad was the no.1 cause of deaths in 3D action games on the PSP, and this solves the problem. :tpi:
