Hacking HBC/BootMii installer hangs at scam warning...

Hi, I have been off the whole Wii Hacking thing for a while now, but since I want to run a few original GC games from a different region now, I've looked into getting everything running again, and have run into a wall pretty early on.

I wanted to make a NAND backup before starting again in order to prevent a brick. Now, for that I need BootMii, and for that I need the files on SD card to start BootMii on boot.
Apparently, to get those files back I need to run the HBC installer again. Sounds easy enough, but it already hangs at the scam screen. So I figure it doesn't like something about my cIOSes.
Never did anything to any original IOS, but I did install a fix to block forced disc updates, and frankly said I don't understand in detail what that changed and where.

Turns out the current configuration is sufficient for import GC games to work without any further modification.
Still, I'd be interested into why this crashes, and how to fix it, because I will need BootMii eventually.

Update your ios via wad install, use modmii. That should fix the issue.

Maybe you need IOS58. I would try installing it with DopMii and running the installer again. Post back, either way...

You don't need to run the Hackmii installer to get the Bootmii files...
And unless you're doing some hardcore region-changing, Priiloader is sufficient to recover from any disaster (except a failed Priiloader installation ofc)

Maybe, but he wants to know why the installer is not working, regardless and I think it's worth finding out.

But modmii should fix most of problems.

I want to fully understand what exactly I am changing, so Modmii and similar solutions are out of question.

So installing IOS58 with DopMii will fix this most likely? Good.
I'll try this after Christmas. Will post results then.

DopMii? What?
Just use the IOS58 installer, or if you've modded your Wii correctly, do an online update.

Why don't more people use PimpMyWii to fix their Wii woes? It's seriously the most stupidly-friendly, brick-proof solution to date. No having to mess with ModMii as long as your Wii is online. It even contains an amazing WAD installer, and gets frequent updates to keep the new IOS files updated.
