So the gbm usually lasts around 8 hours on default settings while using a standard game pak but while using a flash cart I've noticed I get about half that time :-( so I've been looking for replacement batteries, i've found a few on ebay that are 3.7v and 600mah which are 140mah larger then the traditional 460mah, will this make a substantial difference to my gbm, or are there better batteries out there.

Many thanks.

I get about 4.5-5 hours with my ez-flash IV at a rough estimate. Red LEDs only when the battery is getting flat and its about the same on both of my micros.

The 3rd party batteries may be rated higher, but generally seem to have less capacity than the original from my experience. Either old cells, lower quality or just plain lying about their rated capacity *shrug*.

If you're getting about 4-4.5 hours that's not too bad. An all-NOR flash cart would use less but they're rare as hens teeth in terms of finding someone selling an old one.

Heh, yeah, I'm holding onto my F2A Ultra as long as I can. Only uses slightly more power than an official game cartridge.

I wish I still had my F2A. My old SP got stolen with it inside when my house was broken into many years ago, still have the USB cable for it but not of much use.
It was a 1Gb one, the slow time to flash was well worth it to store a few good games and have them all run at full speed/load instantly :)

I cant really complain about the ez-flash IV though, since i swapped over to the modded 'reset' launcher compatibility has been great, and its not like I'm going to play the thing for more than 4 hours straight very often.

You'd be surprised. That cable can be used with the FlashManager software to upload/download *.sav files to/from official game cartridges via FlashManager. You can also use it to turn your GBA into a USB joypad for use with any emulator.

EDIT: If you're using FlashManager for managing saves with official cartridges, please see http://www.pocketheaven.com/ph/wiki/FlashManager for important information. If you're just using it for joypad functionality, you'll need to rename the *.bix files so they'll work with the F2A cables instead of the "standard" ULA cables.

Thanks Dan, I didn't know the cable had any other use :)
I do have a few games that I wouldnt mind grabbing the saves from, think I'll give it a try over the holidays.

They usually overstate the mAH of the batteries so id be wary of em most of the time they have half of what they claim. If your gonna get one of those try to get one with a good return policy preferably a seller who doesn't send from China.

If the mAH is true though you could maybe get another hour out of it. let me know if you get one that does last longer, I would be all over it for my unit too

as for battery life I get about 5 Hours maybe 5 and a half, but the red light shows after about an hour and a half

off topic side note: Count Duckula... so much nostalgia... I have the whole lot stored on a external hard drive buhahahaha
