My Dream Of Pokemon Rainbow...

Before you read this, i'm not addicted to pokemon, i can't remember the last time i played it to be honest haha.

BEGIN DREAM
Just had a dream about the original Pokemon games,and being a 90's child it brought back some awesome memories and nostalgia and it got me thinking deep this morning...

I had a thought that everyone who ever played the original blue/ red, gold/ silver has probably thought of before...

When the original Pokemon games were released it was amazing to play them, when gold and silver were released you got an excellent feeling of embarking a new adventure even though you were probably still playing blue or red getting all your pokemon to level 100 by the time they came out! What gets me now more than it did back then was that you had the ability to roam free in Kanto AND Johto!

In my opinion, pokemon games should have ended after Diamond and Pearl because what Pokemon could be greater than the GOD POKEMON #493 Arceus? Nothing... is the answer to that...

THESE ARE THE MAIN INTERESTING POINTS!
So after DP, why not work on something every person in the world wants and needs?! Rainbow... THE Rainbow version.

incorperate, kanto, johto, hoenn and sinnoh maybe even the rainbow islands, the special islands where event pokemon reside. Include RUMORS in gameplay! mew under the truck! celebi shrine which you could actually use! The rocket to take you to space to catch jirachi! Even include a Missigno shrine/ secret glitch area to catch the glitch #000!!

Everything could be incorperated from each generation, the time machines from gold/ silver, mewtwos cave, later in the game unlockable contests which have just been founded in the hoenn region, the radio on PKGR which changes by region! You can have the lottery, mirage island, battle tower... obviously things would have to be varied to co-exist in games such as the enemy being team rocket/ galactic but it could be done with decent enough writers. (rocket was the original so i'd make the game revolve around them but whatever)

I believe that with the talents of each hacker, if the time was there, if the tools were available, it could be done. It's a dream that needs to come true one day... I have no experience in the hacking of pokemon roms, but seeing some of the work on this site it really makes me believe! If it doesn't happen one day, i'll dedicate every working holiday i have to learning how to hack the roms and i WILL create this!

Two notes:
I thought the rumor was that the rocket could be used to catch Deoxys, not Jirachi?
I wouldn't try this with rom hacking if I were you. It's probably easier to try to recreate the games in something like Game Maker or even a proper programming language. There's just not enough space in the games to store and do all of that without some SERIOUS hacking.

Making an MMO based on a series like this is near impossible. It takes ages to properly develop a game and from what I've heard if you want to add online development time can double, let alone having tons of players on the same server at the same time. Even if you were to complete development, you'd have to pay for server costs and maintenance and it's illegal to ask money for it. I'm not sure about donations, but I don't think that's completely legal either. Not that I would mind a pokemon MMO though.
Like I said, your best bet is probably to recreate the engine (not THAT hard if you go for a 3rd gen sprite look) and add everything you want to that. Part of the benefit in doing that is that you'll be much less limited in what you can do with it.

yeah like i said i've never delved into hacking myself so i don't think i'm gonna take the project up just yet haha,

the lad i know said this is the MMO... pokemmo.eu

but yeah I dunno what these guys abilities are with hacking/ engine creating but we'll sure find out

One doesn't have to be addicted to a game franchise in order to want to create a game they believe would be totally awesome based off of those games. If he thinks that this idea would be pure awesomeness, and that Nintendo would never actually make it themselves, why not take up the project himself?
