A lot of ambassadors are really protective of their status for some reason, so this is likely to get more fighting anyways...

By the way, your question WAS approached, multiple times, but I'll repeat the info here anyways.

1 - Obviously, it's worth at least as much as a 3DS.
2 - Some people place great value in it since it's the ability to play games you can't get on the 3DS otherwise, and they value those games.
3 - Other people don't care since it's a limited number of games they don't give a shit about, and so place no additional value in it.
4 - Still other people do care about the games, but already have the ability to play them portably (cell phone emulators, hacked PSP, etc.), so it's not seen as very special... but this is a subset, the average person doesn't have hacked systems (phones are the exception, but the control schemes on them suck).

So there is no set value. That's why you didn't just get a one-post answer. :P

If you want to buy, you'll have to see what people want to sell at. If you want to sell high, you're going to want to sell to people who have no idea about hacking portable systems, and want the ambassador games specifically.

It's the exact same system as any other 3DS, if not a worse one since the first batches released by Nintendo had certain screen versus bumper issues. Most people won't really care whether it's an Ambassador 3DS or not, but if you include it in your auction, certain collectors might ramp up the price.
I'd say starting from 200$ to around 250-300$. Not sure 'cuz I don't own one.
It's a used item - at best he could demand the same price 3DS's go in stores right now, and that's only because it has the Ambassador Status.

They go for a little more than a regular one on sites like eBay.
Regardless of what people say, the fact is the GBA games are exclusive to those 3DS systems, and the average person doesn't emulate/whatever, so it does matter.

edit: And you can have Ambassador status on an XL with a transfer, so the earlier build crap doesn't always apply.

This is kind of old, but it offers some interesting insight on how people would value it. The pricing on it will always depend on the buyer and seller. You could also check amazon and ebay to see if you can find any concrete prices people are putting on them - but remember that it's extremely subjective and just because someone lists something for x price doesn't mean that it will sell.

So what you're saying is that one could buy a 3DS for the sake of the Ambassador's Status, then buy an XL and transfer it just to get a few GBA/NES games?

Wow. That's Nintentard Evolved - probably the most expensive way to play GBA/NES on the go. Like, buying a dedicated portable NES or a GBA is way cheaper than that.

Not at all. I had an ambassador 3DS. I wanted to upgrade. I transferred everything over.
If somewhere down the line I wanted to sell my system because I didn't want it anymore, it would be an XL with ambassador status.

I'm not trying to say that it should be worth more, I'm with the guys that think the GBA games should be available to everyone. But sellers online do price them for more than the normal 3DS.

That's not what I meant though - my point was that from a buyer's perspective (and a buyer who does not have a 3DS yet), Ambassador's Status is only reachable by buying a console which already has it. The "early built" argument applies here - I haven't seen a single XL with Ambassador's Status on E-Bay as of yet - the only option currently available is buying the early 3DS.

You're right. I haven't seen one either.
"can" and "doesn't always apply" were used ;)
But okay I admit I was a little out of line, hahah.

I'm just saying that the unusual status bumps up the value to most people, whether or not it's on a regular 3DS or an XL.

it really depends on the condition what you have with it if you still have the original box and manuals and stuff, checking prices on ebay i'd say $150 for the bare system with ambassador and nothing else you can add atleast $20 to that if you've kept the original box and everything that came with it.

The Ambassador 3DS's have dropped to withen 10 or 20$ more of a new 3DS (not XL).
I was lucky and got mine for 5$ less then a new 3DS back last September since the owner took a pic of the serial and put it in the auction page. and I was able to confirm ambassador status via Nintendo's own site before buying it. (that was back when Ambassador 3DS's were ~200-220$ on ebay)
