Keep in mind that this is purely a demonstration at this stage. Depending on how things progress and what direction development takes, we may or may not release something like this in this form. Please don’t ask for release dates. We’d rather spend time investigating the new system than putting together a release that may or may not end up being the Right Way to do things in the future ;).

They probably won't release anything unless it leads to something that can access some areas of the Wii U. Well I might be wrong.

It's not Smashstack. (Well they use it to install the HBC.) It's the homebrew channel being installed to Wii mode on the WiiU.
yes but there's no other way to access wii mode unless you use smashstack unless I wonder if letter bomb could still work on wii mode for the wii u to access root? anyways yeah you do realize for this thread everyone's going to be like omg when is it being released, where can I download it to play pirate games and where can I download hack romzs?

I'm getting sick of trolls lately

Exactly, the point being it actually installed, rather than just ran a .dol, which is the most that was previously accomplished.

I'd like to know how they got the HBC installer to run on IOS58, because when previously tried by others, there were no vulnerable IOSes to run on...

Wii mode still has access to the USB ports, right? I would imagine it has to to keep compatibility with games that use USB peripherals (instrument games) and Wiispeak (not that a single person on the planet uses it).
I'd imagine that's the case. Just like DS mode on the 3DS (access to all DS features sans the GBA port). If USB loading is still possible on the Wii U, I could actually ditch my Wii next to the TV for a Wii U. Personally don't like using discs if I can avoid it (also makes up a lot more room on my TV stand :3 ).

Edit up here, because I can't put stuff below that bottom line now for some reason... - I'd still keep my Wii when I get a Wii U. even if I don't use it, I like to keep my consoles. I feel kinda bad that I sold my GBA and my GBC, even though they were old and beat up.

Not an edit - Mate, none of us like using disks if we can avoid it. :creep: Know what I mean, eh eh? ;)

Keeping consoles is pretty much a standard for me too. Makes it possible to use it afterwards if I want nostalgia. Also the possibilities of said consoles are near limitless (500 GB internal HDD on a PS2!).

Only thing I miss is my GB screen. I've lost the cover for some reason (faulty glue I guess, deteriorated over time).

Except for my old consoles (Genesis, N64, GC, GBA SP), I have modded every console I have (Xbox, PS2, 360, PSP, NDS, 3DS (DS Flashcart), Wii). Just have to buy a NAND programmer to downgrade my PS3 and then install CFW.

I don't see myself getting rid of these things. I like them.

The only potential issue I could see is once you boot the Wii U up, it will prompt you to format a USB HDD every bloody time. And well, from there people like me will accidentally press "yes" and kill my HDD.

You will just have to make sure you unplug your HDD every time your finish playing, and then plug it back in once you open the HBC. That should work. The real problem is... when you forget haha.
