Hacking Question about banned xbox360

Hi, first i don´t know if i should ask this here but,
if i own a banned xbox 360 console can it still be updated the dashboard firmware?

Yes.

Just download the system update from xbox.com, extract the RAR archive and plonk it on a FAT32 formatted USB drive.
Insert it in the 360 and boot the console.

Naw, I thought he wanted to unban his XBox, so I carefuly described the procedure and gave my own opinion about it (stealing another console's ID and returning it to the store = Duchebag levels over 9000) and then realized that he just wanted to update.

There is a way to "unban" yourself but you can't really connect to Live again.
It's just injecting a clean KV into your NAND and spoofing the OSIG to your DVD drive + setting your DVD Key to the KV.

Only drawback of that method is that you'll need the jTAG wires permanently attached or the RGH chip permanently enabled.

Your method is indeed a bit....... not wanted here on the Temp ;p

Which is why I don't recommend it either - I just know that it's doable and it works, it just practically means that you sacrifice one XBox to save another. Now, if you have a broken XBox with its memory still dump-able that's not banned at your disposal - that's different.

Hmm won't work unfortunately.
You'll need the CPU key (which is only extractable from XeLL) to decrypt the NAND dump.
That being said that RRoD's (after being "fixed") need to boot atleast once to XeLL before you can decrypt your NAND dump to grab the unbanned KV.

If you dump your NAND and open it on 360 flash tool it'll give a Bad KV error on your KV + boot loader set.

I'm not sure if a 360 will boot without an RF module...
Never tried it meself tho.
Open Tray Errored 360's are far better fixable with just getting a new DVD drive and spoofing keys.
It might also be much cheaper ;p

But yes.
Those 360's are "worthy" of getting their KV nicked.
