A UK Xbox magazine has shared details on the next xbox.

It's said to bring Kinect 2.0, Blu-ray discs and more.
The supposed hardware specs of the devkids would be 4 hardware cores with 4 logical cores each and 8 GB of RAM.

"We built ours with the same glossy face and patented VapourMG magnesium alloy Microsoft uses for its Surface tablet, and modelled the silver band after its new 'Wedge' touch keyboard and flexible Arc Touch mouse," it writes. "The future will be black, sharp and curved."

It's glossy. I am disappoint.

But seriously, 8GB of RAM? The 360 only has 512 MB doesn't it? That's a pretty big leap.

It's still a rumor so take it with a grain of salt.

Devkit 360's have 1 GB of RAM, 360 has 512MB
Devkit xbox's had 128MB of RAM, Xbox has 64MB

So it might be plausible that the next Xbox sees a 50% downgrade in RAM capacity.

I'd just like to see where they can go with the Kinect. At the moment, I'd say it's okay but I get more frustrated trying to use commands and gestures in games than actually having fun with it. Of course I'll actually believe any of this when I see it.

I'm pretty certain the first Xbox was called "Xbox". As for the rumoured specs, there sounds like a little too much fluff, too much of the obvious, I will take my grain of salt and call bullshit to this

If the Kinect 2.0 is all its cracked up to be it has me interested. Like if it can sense individual finger movements and have more accurate motion controls then it's honestly really cool, and being integrated into the system means it won't be some half-assed $150 peripheral, but a core feature. That's both good and bad, as it could detract from the good ol' sticks and buttons games but it opens up a lot.

However I'm completely decided that I'll refuse to by any console with a mandatory online fee to play online. I've probably spent more on Xbox Live by now than on the actual Xbox 360 and it's not worth it at all.

Or I'll just go PC next gen and fuck all these horrible home consoles.

I know man, $0.16 a day is pretty rough... Especially when other consoles offer lesser services for free.

Well it comes out to $7/month for a service that should be free. I only get money from the occasional job here and there and it's just a drain on my bank account. I stopped paying for it (only things I see myself playing on it anyway are single player games like Metal Gear Rising, the South Park RPG, and I still play Kingdoms of Amalur) and I'll probably invest in Playstation Plus once my Vita is fixed.

I know the fee is "nominal" when broken down but it's a drain. For $60 a year I could buy a game instead of pay for something that offers really nothing outside of unlocking basic features.

That (converted to sterling) 0.100708 GBP would buy me ten penny sweets. I know what I'll be spending my 0.100708 GBP on.
they still sell "penny sweets" over there? It's 2012 man, penny sweets should cost a nickel. You guys really need to get with the time...

I only play single-player games as well. But I also do HBO GO which is more than worth it (our HBO/Showtime/Cinemax is free so we're not double paying...) along with Amazon Instant Video and Netflix. Plus, Live is easily earned via Bing Rewards and year cards can be purchased for $35 or less on Ebay...
