Android JXD S7100 "Pearl" Gaming tablet. How to edit homescreen

So recently I decided to get one of those cheap gaming tablets, just to learn play emulators or check emails. It is not a perfect solution, and I regret I bought that cheap one, but it was only $130



They made it taking some roms off the bat, but I want to load my own emulators and change homescreen etc.
Right now if I want to delete some unused icons (shotcuts) from homescreen I'm getting "In order to interface aesthetics, This can not be removed controlling temporaly" (In order to interface aesthetics, this control can not be removed temporarily).
Wtf?
Anyone knows how to edit it and how to remove some unused junk from it?

Can you install a third party launcher? That should fix half of your issues. The other half could be fixed if you can root it, or even further put a custom rom on it.

What version of android does it run? I'm at work and can't watch the video for now. I'm assuming it doesn't have Google Play access, so you might try the Slide Marketplace and Amazon Appstore instead.

Edit - actually, just looking at the video thumbnail, that might be Android 2.1. You could try Go launcher, among others, I'm just not positive what else is out for 2.1.

I'd also try Amazon Appstore before Slide. Also, if necessary, Google for and side load apks.

If I remember, newer ones of that tablet should be running some version of 4.0. I'm sure somewhere there's a tutorial on how to root your device. Just give it some time and hang in there before you just give up.

I hope he doesn't give up. It's better than the Pandigital 7" Novel. How? It's not the Pandigital 7" Novel. ANYTHING is better than that.

(hence why I jumped at the nexus 7)

I don't want to give up. As a matter of fact I quite like it. Minish cap looks great on it. The only thing I truly hate is all that junk.
I forgot to add that I'm quite rookie with Android. If you can be more specific what to do. How to install third party launcher?

First off, see if you can go into Settings (from your app drawer), then About phone/tablet/device, and see if you can find an Android version.

But I am going to assume it's on Android 2.1, so download the Free Version of Go Launcher EX 3.19.1, if you do it from the tablet it'll save you a step.

Anyway, on the tablet, go into Settings, Security, and enable the checkbox to allow you to install applications from unknown sources (or something of the like), then install the file (if you downloaded it on the PC, copy it to your tablets internal memory or an SD card, then browse to it with a file explorer (ghost commander is a good basic one, browse to the root of your internal memory (should show up automatically) or the sdcard folder, and tap the file to run it); if downloaded with the tablet, open your downloads folder and run it; if it won't run, do it with something like Ghost Commander then)

Hit Home

When asked what launcher to use, check off "make default" and pick Go Launcher EX.

Now you should be able to customize it to your hearts content.

Also, please, for simplicity's sake, let us know if your tablet has the Android Market/Google Play Store installed on it. If it does, don't use my link, use the play store/market instead.

Install Saburo's custom rom, it's a clean ROM which comes pre-rooted. It also has Play Store in it.

Go Launcher EX sucks, install ADW Pro, you'll thank me later.

Keep in mind that there's a small possibility this could brick your S7100 if the flashing goes wrong, unlikely, but don't go around blaming me if that happens (anyway there should be a recovery mode to reflash even if you do a bad flash, but I can't be certain of that)

I never had anything lower than ICS on an Android device (aside from that Pandigital tablet I mentioned, which I tried to not use), so I'm not too familiar with pre-ICS launchers. Go Launcher EX was the only one I knew of

Have you tried OnLive on your s7100. I'm getting the s6600 for Christmas and I can't wait to fiddle around with it! I also sent JXD a email about the s5100 and how they should re-release it with shoulder buttons and maybe a right stick Maybe they might get back to me. Somehow I doubt it.

I have no idea what OnLive is, so basically I didn't try it.
I think it's a great tablet for emulators, however Chrono Cross plays to slow on it

Don't open the zip, put that zipped on the microSD, put the device into recovery mode (can't remember how, read the readme) and it'll autoflash itself, iirc. If it doesn't, then flash it manually.

Ok. So I hold Menu and Power. Now I'm in Android System Recovery 3e
However when I picked apply update from sdcard
this is what I'm getting:

Is something wrong with my SD card?
it says:

E:Bad bootloader arguments
"(null)"
E:unknown volume for path [/udisk/factory_update_param.aml]
E:Can't mount /udisk/factory_update_param.aml

Maybe some is wrong with rom?
