My reaction when I see any thread, discussion, or post centered around the typical "Guild vs. Soulx" routine:
And you know, it shouldn't have to be this way. We're kind of in a rut right now; it feels like every single topic leading back to this subject. We've got two threads centered on this conflict in the Site Discussions & Suggestions board, for fuck's sake.
Enough is enough. Come on, GBAtemp, we're better than this. Not by much, sure, but still. I think it's about time that we got all parties involved to offer suggestions, to be worked out and developed here, in the Edge of the Forum (the home of the Temp's most intellectually stimulating discussions).
"Now, Gahars," you may ask, "was this just an excuse to post that gif?" Yes, yes it was. I'm too many words into this thing to turn back now, though, so let's get rolling.
SUGGESTIONS:
1) Soulx, cut back on the Sony news for awhile. By cut back, of course, I mean stop completely. That's not to say that there should be no news on Sony posted, or that you should stop forever. However, you've got a reputation and stigma that carries over to your posts and threads, derailing it for everyone involved. Leave the dead horse be, and let things cool down.
2) Guild, turn down the heat a bit. Everybody loves to see a thoroughly smashed sphincter, but as history shows us, too many crushed colons just leaves fecal matter and tears everywhere. Going in hot is your style, I get that, but all too often people feel insulted or antagonized when that wasn't even the original intention. All too often, otherwise benign or relaxed discussions quickly reach a boiling point based on some sort of mutual understanding.
3) Everyone, stop taking things so seriously. We can hold frank and serious discussions here, but this is also a forum where a gif of Rydian humping the air became the trendy new avatar a while back; 'tis a silly place. You can't convey tone through text, sure, but hyperbole shouldn't be so hard to spot and recognize. Don't take disagreements as personal attacks. Realize that preachy moralizing is anno- oh...
Feel free to add your own suggestions/suggestions for edits to my suggestions (which I'll add to this post if they're worthwhile), to tell me I'm wrong, or to turn this into a Futurama thread by page 2.
Together we can fix this problem. Or not. It's up to you, really.
