February 2013, full 3D remake with StreetPass functionality.

With Monster Hunter 4, Dragon Quest 7 and potentially Pokemon all coming in 2013 for the 3DS, prepare for Nintendomination.

For a second there I read DQ VIII . My heart skipped a beat.....

7 isn't that good IMHO, decent and very enjoyable, but not so memorable and just addicitve than 8.

DQ VII is actually the most successful one in Japan.
I hear it is infamously long but I expect they will address the major grinding issues the game had.

Definitely looking forward to this one, no mistake.

The first few hours of the game is genuinely one of the most tedious things I've ever gone through. Now take into account the game is meant to be around 70 hours or so. You're going to need patience of a fucking saint.

I thought you didn't play Dragon Quest.

What do you think my irrational hatred of Dragon Yawn is based on? Of course I've played the games. Unlike a lot of people on this site, I don't systematically criticize games unless I've actually played it. Heck, I actually own Dragon Quest VIII.

If you have a rational reason to hate the game it's not irrational.

They need multiplayer as good as in DQIX for NDS.
The remakes of 4, 5 and 6 didn't have multiplayer, maybe a tag mode (like streetpass) but no multiplayer.

Dragon Quest games are a single player experience, not everything needs multiplayer.

I like playing games with my friends. Multiplayer = more lasting gameplay, and I don't buy a lot of games.

I played VII and yup beginning is boring as all hell, a few hours before an actual battle.
Wasn't that bad after that though, only thing that bothered e was how long it took to actually master a job, which meant lots and lots of grinding.

Are you all ready to sit through a two hour intro with no battles or any meaningful plot development?
Because I sure am.
Oh, God, am I ever.

This is one of the slowest, longest games I have ever played.
And somehow, it happens to be my favorite in the Dragon Quest series.

Sock it to me, Square Enix.
I am ready.

I don't really care all that much for the DQ franchise. They're pretty unexciting quests; Dragon Errands is more like it.

70 hours? Pfft I have put in almost 90 on one character in Borderlands 2, and I put around 250 in the first game. 70 hours will be a breeze, I didn't even full clear 100% Dragon Quest 9 and I clocked 50 hours on that game easily, if not more.

Looking forward to it though, but seriously right now I fucking want my Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland out in North America!

And 9 was only a tag system anyway, it wasn't multiplayer at all. I played the entire game and yes, it's a freaking RPG, there does not need to be any online components at all.
