Retailers across Britain are selling Wii U editions of multi platform games at a significantly higher price point than their Xbox 360 and PS3 counterparts.

Doesn't this remind you guys about the N64 cartridges? Who remembers when Majora's Mask was 60 pounds? I'm very surprised for the prices too by the way.. That's a lot from looking at the comparisons.

ROFL no surprise there, they are expensive as it is and now they are raising the price even more, on top of that nintendo never lower their prices so expect them to stay at £50 for a very long time, people would be very stupid to buy the console ports at £50 when they can get the ps3/xbox 360 versions for much cheaper.

it looks like I will be playing nintendo land and new super mario bros wii u for quite a while then, in the long run it's not worth buying a wii u at launch, the game prices are ridiculous.

I suppose they think it's justifiable because the Wii U is the new generation. I sure as hell wouldn't pay that much for an older game on a newer system. Maybe if they updated the graphics and bumped it's status to remake, but as a port, it's a big fat "hell no!"

The stores are probably thinking something like "hurr durr next gen so we should be able to get 10 pounds more for every purchase". Or the fault is with the devs for thinking this (Seriously, Mass Effect 3 while all other consoles get the entire Trilogy for LESS MONEY?)

So I take it that none of you thought that the re-releases required porting, meaning re-working the code to compile for a new platform, as well as featuring additional content, beta testing for the new platform and so on and so forth and that bumped the price? There's no reason as to why Mass Effect 3, Batman: Arkham City - Armored Edition or other re-releases *shouldn't* be more expensive than the existing versions.

Now, this is not the definite answer as to why the prices are higher - games that were not released yet don't have this excuse. In those cases, it is indeed the retailer's fault.

That makes no sense at all. A port of an existing game is not going to cost more to develop than the game cost to develop in the first place. It's a "dur next gen time to raise prices" money grab, pure and simple.

Mass Effect 1, 2, & 3 are being released in an all-in-one bundle for Xbox 360 and PC on November 6, and for PlayStation 3 at a later date. The compilation, titled Mass Effect Trilogy, is priced at $59.99.

EA themselves just devalued it with this, that is why.
