Hacking Help with R4i-Gold 3DS 4.40-10 Update

Hello, GBAtemp. I have an R4i-Gold-3DS (r4ids.cn) and it was working fine while I was on 4.3.0-10U. For some reason I updated (horrible idea) to 4.4.0 and now my card is blocked. I read about updating the card using an older DS model and I was wondering if I need another card to update mine. Do I just put the update files onto my card, update it through the DSlite, then it will be unblocked on my 3DS?

Yeah, that's right. Start the flashcart on any DS model it still works on, run the update and it'll work on your 3DS again.

Ok cool, so I can just format my SD, place the update file (I think it's a .NDS file) and it should update through the DSlite?

Yup. Run the NDS, follow instructions and you should be fine. Make sure you have the 4.4.0 update though.

For some reason when I run the 4.4.0 patcher on the DSlite, the card check says "Fail". I tried everything: putting 1.53b kernel at the root, I ran the 5.05 firmware update.

Can somebody tell me what's going wrong?

Nevermind, I got it. I had to take out and then re-insert the r4i before pressing A at the card check.
