NDS games, when played on a 3DS, are either stretched out or displayed on a small part of the screen, is it any better on the XL?
Is the bigger screen better fit for NDS games, or is still a small part of the screen used?
If it is still just a part of the screen that is being used: is it larger than on a regular 3DS?

But i've seen pics of it and hell it looks much better than on original 3DS for some reason. Even some people I know reported this

I'll tell you this much: The 3DS XL's dpad is a billion times better than the original 3DS's, which is critical for so many DS sidescrollers, etc that are better controlled with the dpad than the circle pad.

There's the 1:1 pixel mode on the 3DS by holding start on startup, with the XL's larger screens the 1:1 picture have about the same size as a DS. Non stretched and non blurred.
It's actually a little bigger than a DSi in 1:1 mode. Its very nice indeed.
The 3DSxl is the way to go if DS gaming is really important to you, OP.
Its also the way to go if you're into 3ds gaming. :P

Stretched DS games look a lot better on the 3DS XL compared to the Micro version of it.

To me it feels just as good as how it was on the DSi XL because it has a higher ppi = less blocky pictures (albeit fuzzy), the circle pad also makes it up for the fuzzy image.

In pixel perfect mode, it is larger than the DSi by a bit. Game obviously looks best in original res, but I can't stand black borders.

I play my DS games in full stretch mode and it seems much better to my eyes. I guess I like full screen play.

1.1 mode 3DS XL is better at displaying than DSi cos it's screen is slightly physically larger too and plus pixels match.

Yeah. It's the 3DS XL internal system stretching it, not SCDS2 software.

Isn't a larger screen at the same resolution actually a lower ppi (and more blocky)? It is like with the iphone 4, people only seemed to care about ppi when Apple doubled the screen resolution while keeping the screen size the same.

I can't really enter the discussion because I only have an XL so I can't compare. Maybe the better picture is due to a better filtering algorithm, or possibly just due to everything being easier to see on the bigger screen (regardless of ppi)

I was comparing it to the DSi XL. That one had the worst ppi. 3DS XL has a higher ppi than the DSi XL in DS mode.
