Nintendo has told CVG that it won't downwardly revise its global Wii U shipping forecast, following reports from Japan suggesting that a factory fire has hit production.
Well.... It's kind of dramatic of the accident.. But.. Why would they downgrade it's shipping forecast by one million units..?

I'm actually pretty interested in what could've started the fire; this isn't exactly the sort of product that demands dangerous working conditions, is it?

The fire was at one of Foxconns factories in China. Foxconn will just have workers at another factory work more unpaid overtime to make up for lost time.

I saw something that said it was started by electrical cables in the roof.

There WAS a fire ... but they were just burning their garbage. They wanted something they could then report to the news people and create an artificial shortage while all the factory workers were really each just taking a free console home.

Seriously, though. I kinda doubt the file actually started in the warehouse where all the stocked up Wii U's were being stored. Probably some machinery got toasted. Some of the nearby console parts were damaged. They very well may have just had production moving right along, moved to another factory the next day without blinking an eye. As far as getting along to their production goal they just lost a couple days work. That's it.
(As long as they don't try to pass of burned white consoles as black one's on the shelf they're fine.)

Are you telling me you didn't want the limited Survived Fire Edition?
