For remakes I don't count ones with enhanced graphics and audio. Basically if it adds more content or new controls it counts. I would add some more games I thought of but I don't think they count feel free to suggest more.

Just looooved Impossible Mission on DS, I read somebody was going to remake Last Ninja as well but I guess that idea was dropped :(
Can't wait for XCOM though, I still play the original even if it is clunky by today' s standards, hope they didn't dumb it down at all.

They didn't I played it on hard and got my ass kicked from losing my guys and recruiting new ones. You have to promote, use cover and use strategy when fighting and building your base. If 8 nations leave the council you lose.

Oh and if anyone asks why Rayman should be there tell them it is possibly a sequel if you follow the script and other occurrences during the game it seems like sequel.

Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver. I played the originals so much... And the reamakes were totally awesome.

Now if Terry's Wonderland 3d comes to the US... That will be my favorite remake.

Awesome, haven't played the demo at all, 6gig seemed steep for a demo.

And shouldn't r6: Vegas count as a spin off, I played the shit out of those.

Rainbow 6 Vegas isn't a spin off. Reboot wise for me it be Ninja Gaiden since X-Com and Spyhunter might not be to great. Remake wise Front Mission DS adds the most content to me but Ace Attorney got the GBA games ported onto the DS close tie. Spin off wise Mario and Megaman had way to many successful games that branched from the main series. I guess it is difficult for me to pick one for each question.

I'd say Resident Evil 4 is something of a reboot for the series, and yeah, that gets my vote.

It did just about everything right. RE4 maintained a strong atmosphere, featured fun and memorable characters, and the controls actually worked. Unfortunately, I feel like a little something was lost along the way to RE5 and beyond...

Reboots? Goldeneye 007 was alright although I never thought the first game was all that great (if you want a true Bond game you play the Gamecube era ones honestly). I haven't played the older Mortal Kombat games but the most recent one was actually really good too.

Remakes? Not really a remake (technically a port) but Perfect Dark XBLA was really good. I also enjoyed FFIV Complete Collection on the PSP, I thought it was a lot better than the full remake on the DS.

Spinoffs? Dissidia Final Fantasy is a fantastic series, the second one in particular. Really holds a spot in my favorite games.

Otherwise I can't think of a whole lot.

It was a spinoff from the Rainbow 6 series.
Wasn't it?

Eh, Rainbow Six isn't really a franchise defined by a set main series and set spin offs.

I wouldn't really say it has a main series or spin offs. I mean think of it like Call of Duty. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare led to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. They're main series but MW2 isn't technically called "Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2". So Rainbow Six went to Rainbow Six: Vegas, then Rainbow Six: Vegas 2.

I quite like what they did with Metroid Zero Mission, took what was wrong and fixed it and then added new content that really added to the game. I really wanted them to do Metroid II, which is a good game but could be so much better with a visible added map and a better perspective. It's the only Metroid (not subtitled Other M) that I can't quite finish because I just lose interest with the backtracking being more of a faff then in other games .

Also the last GoldenEye wasn't really a remake at all, the core game didn't take the levels or missions from the N64 version (for legal reasons) and instead they just made their own version of the film with Craig being Bond. I see it more like Capcom's version of Aladdin on the SNES compared to Virgin's/Disney's version on the Mega Drive.

To me it isn't really a reboot just a massive change in direction plus they didn't restart the story. Resident Evil would have been different if they had the hardware to avoid loading at doors and a lot of more of the Playstation 1's limitations removed. Hardware helps change games over time, look at Fallout 3, Mario and so many more games. Back in the Nes era we had Platformers mostly, then it evolved and evolved till we got to the point were FPS and TPS were quite frankly easier to do.

I will go for Super Castlevania IV seeing as that was technically a remake of the first Castlevania. Miight have lacked the challenge of the original but it was a great update from 8 bit to 16 bit. In turn Castlevania Chronicles on the PSX which was another remake of Castlevania wasn't half bad either

Considering how massive that change in direction was, and how it's shaped the series since, I think it's pretty easy to make the argument that it would fall under "reboot" territory.

I'm aware of hardware limitations, but that excuse only goes so far. There were other games 3D on the Playstation 1 with control schemes that weren't completely atrocious. Even if this was somehow the case, the controls persisted beyond the PS1, through Code Veronica (Dreamcast, PS2) and Resident Evil 0 (Gamecube).

So good, it took over Ys III place in canon.
THIS
SO MUCH

I remember playing the original when I was younger, and while the OST was fucking amazing, the game was terrible. Oath in Felghana on the other hand...
