Hey Guys,

Plz I really need more help modding my Wii. I'm totally confused!

I made a post on Sep. 18th about a problem about a crashing Metroid Other M (http://gbatemp.net/t...98#entry4392298). I fixed that creating a non-splited images on NTFS partition (Metroid Other M and 3 others bigger than 4GB).
CFG Loader gives some memory overlap problem when loading a game that I don't know why but I can play. So I install again USB Loader GX and the games works flawlessly without any error message.

My saga continues when trying to load Gamecube games through my USB External Drive, a 3TB USB 3.0 Seagate external desktop drive (Seagate Expansion Desk (2794 GB))formatted with 800GB for Wii using FAT32 and 1,94TB in NTFS, using MBA mode. I tried everything, even used LMLizard to make sure all is updated following the Dumb Proof Wizard!

I got my Wii with DM 2.3, files DMS_v2.3.wad and RVL-BC-v6.wad installed with Wad Manager 1.7
Got last version of USB Loader GX (through LMLizard), Downloaded GC games from Redump.org project (so I think the Isos are ok, all with the same size of 1.459.978.240 bytes)
So, in a NTFS partition where I got more space, I made the DiscEX v0.9 process (not using -a option, since the images are ok) and generates the folder for each game with the isos all of 1.459.978.240 bytes.
I move them all to the FAT32 32K Partition, on root\games folder.

I used FAT32 with 32K Clusters, certified and formatted again with LMLizard that my SD and USB are compatible with DM.

So, when I try to load a GC game from my USB drive, USBLoaderGX and DIOS MIOS Booter turn off my HDD and the Wii are put on stand by.
NMM is Off , No Disc is Off, and I put a DVD with a copy of a single GC game in the Wii Drive.

What's going wrong guys?!

And using usbloader GX to load VC and WW, it crashes and returns to Wii System Menu.
I installed the game Wad on the USB Loader GX ( I think this install is made on the virtual Nand, right?).

Anyone can Help me with this?

You have two different questions, so I'll answers both separatly (GameCube and EmuNAND).

GameCube:
If USBLoaderGX can see the game then it's extracted and named correctly. (Just be sure that GX sees the FAT drive, not the NTFS partition).

First, be sure that your FAT32 partition is the first partition on the drive, is active and primary, and that the cluster size is 32k or less.

When DIOS MIOS (Lite) is crashing it's switching off the console, so you currently have a problem which makes DM(L) crash.
It can be caused by the drive initialization, it's the most common bug I know.
Myself, I have Seagate external HDD which are compatible, but not 100%
Seagate drives seems to be incompatible very often, but it's random.
You need to try and try again few times until the drive is init correctly and then DM will boot.

This is only if everything is correctly setup.

Maybe 3TB drives are incompatible as they are using different sector sizes. I don't remember if they are compatible.

Then, you said that you installed "DMS", I guess you meant DML, but DIOS MIOS Lite is for SD card only.
Be sure to install DIOS MIOS (not the lite version) for USB. But USBLoaderGX is detecting the version you are using, check in the settings>Credit page.

EmuNAND:
If you want to play Virtual console and WiiWare, installed by the "wad manager" menu of the loader you need to have a full NAND dump first.

The Wad manager menu is installing the wad only on the emulated NAND, not on the real NAND.
So, be sure to create a full NAND dump first, by going into settings>features>Dump NAND.

Then, use the Wad menu to install wads to that dump.

Some VC and WiiWare games are not working on EmuNAND, but it's usually display an error or freeze.
If it's going back to System menu it means that your setting is wrong (not a full dump?)

Hi Cyan,

thx for the answer.

About the VC/WW, I already did a full dump first, but can't load games.
I did it again now as you suggested (on FAT32 partition), and try to install excite bike world rally.
It run and I played a little. Works great.

So I install Sonic 4 Ep1, Contra Rebirth, Gradius rebirth and Megaman 9. None of these worked (back to wii system menu). These games really don't work or I'd a problem here? What's the % of games that work?
I tried now Adventure Island - The Beggining and that worked.

About the GC, I did all the steps carefully. But just to be sure, how can I check the cluster size of my FAT32 partition?
And USBLoaderGX, on credits, shows DIOS_MIOS 2.2+.

What I have to do to fix these problems? This is the only External Drive that I have.
Really appreciate your help. Thx.

Edit: The name of the file to install DM on DMLizard is really DMS_v2.3.wad.

The official release is named "DIOSMIOS_2.3.wad", but if GX is detecting it as v2.2+ it's fine.

you are on windows?
To check the cluster size:

- start menu > run : cmd
(of find a way to run the MSdos command line)

- type your drive letter, for example D:
Code:
C:\user>
C:\user>D:
D:\>
Then press enter, it will display your drive letter at the start of the line.

type chkdsk and enter
Code:
D:\>chkdsk
1 971 675 136 octets d'espace disque au total.
98 304 octets dans 24 dossiers.
601 722 880 octets dans 69 fichiers.
1 369 845 760 octets disponibles sur le disque.

4 096 octets dans chaque unité d'allocation.

Yes, you can delete the channels you don't need (weather, info, etc.) without problem.
keep the Mii channel though, even if it shouldn't be needed.

Just go to the EmuNand mode, into the game's settings and select Delete Title.

or use ShowMiiWads to remove the channels/titles you don't need.

Hi again Cyan,

I don't have much time, but I reinstall official DIOS MIOS 2.3 and RVL-BC-v6.wad and it still do not work.
Later at home I'll try to use DMToolBox instead of DiscEx and see what happens. But like you said, probably this is a incompatible HDD and I have to wait.

About VC/WW: as you sugested, I used ShowMiiWads and that worked perfectly. I did a test on some games and all works, but I'm sure that some will not.
Those I'll do same as on might chanels. Simply install on real Nand.

I got 16GB+ of VC and WW and some don't get the Covers. WiiTDB is still adding some more covers for them?
I don't know about WiiTDB...

But the most important is that they work now and that USBLoader still need some work on his wad manager.

Thx for the help.

Thanks for the report and confirming that the games are working with ShowMiiWads.
So that confirms that the loader's Wad manager is not very good yet.

About WiiTDB, it's dependent to users creating covers. As WiiWare/VC don't have official covers, you need to wait until someone create one.
Usually, the French one are available, thanks to the active French group (mainly @[member='mamule']) ;)
set the USBLoader language to French, and download the covers.

About gamecube, you don't need to reinstall BC every time.
once update to v6, nothing will replace it.
DIOS MIOS is replacing only the MIOS slot, if you want to uninstall DIOS MIOS then install the official MIOS v10.

Hi Cyan,

About VC/WW, I set the USBLoaderGX to French and tried to download more covers, but the other 1800+ files that I don't have can't be found to.
But this is not a big deal, I'll try another day and see what happens.

About GC, I made a test using DMToolBox, with 32K align and RAW copy, and the result is the same.
There's something more I can do play my GC games from USB?

Thx.
