Now get cracking on Mario Kart 7 DLC! :whip:

Given the slow trickle of "classic tracks" they have been unleashing in the past MK games (not that I have really even played the Wii one yet) do you really want to open up that can of worms? Just look at the likes of Rockband....

Personally I don't mind "Classic tracks" One bit. The whole point of those tracks is to remaster them and give people who have played the game before a nostalgia trip. Besides, there are still many oldie tracks that have yet to even be remade.
I wouldn't mind a pack consisting of all remade rainbow roads.
Or packs dedicated to specific Mario kart games (Like a double dash pack, wii pack, etc.)
And then of course, original tracks would be just as amazing.

As long as they stick to their promise of only doing meaningful DLC I'll be good. I'll be happy if they skip the retro tracks for new ones with MK seeing that these tracks play so much better on the original games.

Also I don't see this as an indication that there'll be loads of DLC in most of their games, Mario Kart sells shitloads and yet they still abide to the "one game per platform" rule.

This is a way to return profit on their games that don't sell as much. I mean, Fire Emblem has a fanbase but it's relatively niche and it's certainly no Mario. With this, even their games that don't sell a lot can still make a profit (maybe even prompting the revival of franchises like F-Zero but with DLC tracks!).

Mario Kart only gets one release per platform because it's a consistent seller. From launch until the death of a platform, it still sells quite a lot.

With Mario Kart all they have to do is add more tracks and that's it another 5 million copies sold at least at the same time the first game is still selling loads.

Currently with what they have planned for 3DS & Wii U they do seem to be sticking with their mantra, some of these titles don't even have online let alone DLC so unlike the likes of EA, Microsoft etc they're only doing DLC with games they feel are suitable.

I actually like the way DLC for Fire Emblem works, I mean, you get a new character and their story, not to mention new maps, also, they're all cheap DLC rounding 3€ or so, I sure wouldn't mind paying for them if the DLC gets released over here with the game.

I don't hate DLC. I only hate overpriced DLC with almost no content.

If Nintendo releases good DLC, it's okay.
As Skelletonike is describing it, it sounds really good. Because me love Fire Emblem long time.

Tons of DLC oh dear god no at least not for most games, I understand Mario Kart having DLC of new tracks and new fighters for a fighting game but DLC in the more Japanese centric games tend to be just a new outfit that should already be on cartridge.

Takaki please don't look at the numbers, keep Senran Kagura free of DLC, do the fans a favor.

I still have a personal bias against DLC add-ons for games. I'm hoping this won't lead to a micro-transaction filled shit-tier of a handheld, but I'm not keeping my fingers crossed. Call me cynical but big corporations haven't been the most honest of organizations lately. Combine this with the illusion of easy DLC money and we've got a corporate greed orgy waiting to happen.

Also bear in mind that those are Japanese sales figures. Fire Emblem is huge in Japan, so these sales figures aren't truly indicative of what they will see world wide when the game is out. For other franchises, DLC will be a hot seller world wide, but I don't think Fire Emblem has the kind of popularity Mario Kart does outside of Japan.
