I'm thinking about getting this game, but I can't think of any GOOD reason to get it. I think most, if not all of those games can be obtained through virtual console releases on both the 3DS and Wii. No idea if it would cost LESS to go that route, but still. The only reason I can think for getting it is Club Nintendo coins, and that's not a very good reason.

Anyway, what are your thoughts on it?

You can always wait for a price drop. They did reprint Mario's Collection so they might do the same with this decrease resell value of course if Metroid Prime Trilogy has shown anything it picks up. The special edition does come with the artwork, cd and some bonuses like more content in Return to Dreamland. Plus if you buy everything via the virtual console it is about the same price but you might be able to play them all on your 3DS.

I'm going to grab it honestly so I can have it for my collection, though I'll probably wait for a sale before I do. Wish they'd put that N64 crystal game on 3DS I know they can do it :)

Personally, I'll probably pick it up because A) limited internal memory on the Wii makes VC games a total pain (especially Kirby 64), and B) it has enough cool extras to warrant the purchase, in my opinion.

Though I really wish the collection included a port of Kirby: Air Ride with Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection support for online multiplayer. But nothing we can do about that. lol.

And with no news regarding GameCube VC games being released on the Wii U, Nintendo jilts us again.

I thought that there was? Or are you just being sarcastic? :P

Heck, honestly I'd prefer a full-fledged sequel to Kirby Air Ride for the Wii U. But I know that's way more unlikely. lol.

Apparently it's cheaper to buy the game and get the extra goodies such as the OST and the (rather thin) art booklet.
