As the title says, I'm buying a laptop for overall usage (Gaming, School, Media, Web) and I want to know if anyone can suggest one, it would have to be cheap, like from 100-300 or so, but capable, I don't need one that can do any crazy Skyrim or Crysis 2 graphics, something that could handle games like Fallout New Vegas with decent performance or something like that. Also, it would need to last quite a while, like maybe 6 or 7 years at most so what brand would make sturdy ones? I was looking at the Vaios since Sony tends to make pretty good stuff and all, but I haven't heard many great things about them.

Well maybe you can find some one to sell you a stolen laptop for that kind of cash that could play Fallout on lol

But on a more serious note any kind of gaming laptop is going to run at least 599 and move on up from there.

300 gets you the cheapest of the cheap and forget about most games (might play Fallout but only if you set everything to lowest possible settings and don't mind 20 frames per second.)

Refurbished can be hit and miss, try to get new if possible; the one I have now, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y570, plays newer games just fine (as long as you don't use ultra settings), and does other everyday takes perfectly well. And all I spent was $850, tax included, not to mention it has no heating issues whatsoever.

Lenovo is a good brand, so is Asus, Acer, Toshiba can be good for the most part, avoid Dell and Gateway like the plague.

Actually, DELL are better than they used to be 10 years ago. Whilst ANY brand has a 15-25% failure rate within 3 years, DELL has does proportionately well. Then again, they make so many more laptops than other brands that it's natural to see more of them failing. In terms of % though, they're not bad.

For $300, the DELL laptop supr linked is the best you're going to be able to find for gaming.

Hmmm, I could probly do 500 but thats pushing it, also im not looking for a gaming laptop, since Fallout NV is the most graphic intensive game I own I wouldnt expect it to run at 60fps on best graphics or anything, hell 50fps at low would make me happy.

Keep your expectations low. For that budget, 30FPS at low settings should be good enough for you.
